Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: gear still up.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,500 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 898 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Hispano Aviacion HA-200 taxied to runway 04L at MMSM Aeropuerto Internacional General Felipe Ángeles and commenced its departure roll. The aircraft lifted off after a takeoff run of 709 m, representing 16 % of the runway, at a liftoff speed of 101 kt. Local conditions were 22 °C with a wind of 24 kt from 050°, providing a head-wind component of 24 kt and zero cross-wind.
Climbing from the airport, the HA-200 rose from 8 521 ft asl to 9 596 ft asl, a gain of 1 075 ft achieved in 2 minutes while covering 6 nm.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise segment 2 nm south of Ojo de Agua, maintaining altitude for 2 minutes and traversing 6 nm.
A descent began 1 nm east of Ojo de Agua, with altitude decreasing from 9 585 ft asl to 8 924 ft asl, a loss of 660 ft in 2 minutes over a distance of 6 nm.
Subsequent climb operations started 1 nm north-west of Santa Isabel Ixtapan, raising the aircraft from 9 225 ft asl to 9 878 ft asl, an increase of 653 ft in 2 minutes while covering 5 nm.
The next descent was initiated 1 nm north-west of Acolman de Netzahualcoyotl, descending from 9 869 ft asl to 8 703 ft asl, a reduction of 1 166 ft in 2 minutes across 6 nm.
A second cruise segment commenced 1 nm north-west of Ojo de Agua, lasting 2 minutes and covering 5 nm at constant altitude.
The flight executed a go-around on runway 04C at MMSM, climbing to an altitude of 1 014 ft agl before re-establishing a missed-approach profile.
During the final approach to runway 04C, the aircraft descended from 1 034 ft agl to 70 ft agl in 124 seconds and received a score on the stabilisation gates.
Landing was performed on runway 04C, whose total length is 4 500 m. The threshold height of 61 ft agl was above target, while the threshold speed of 99 kt was within expectations. Touchdown occurred 455 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 72 kt, with a smooth vertical rate of minus 150 fpm and a lateral deviation of 6.1 m from the centreline. Weather at the time was 20 °C with a wind of 23 kt from 050°, providing a head-wind component of 23 kt and no cross-wind. The total landing roll measured 1 183 m, equivalent to 26 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was very good.
In total, the HA-200 flew 42 nm, the flight duration was 13 minutes, and fuel consumption amounted to 77 kg.
