MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,972 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 707 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at CYGQ Geraldton Greenstone Regional Airport, a process that took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 26, with a takeoff distance of 530 meters, which accounted for 35% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 88 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of -3°C, with a wind speed of 18 knots at 155°. This resulted in a crosswind of 17 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile west of the airport and rising from an altitude of 2,180 feet above sea level to 17,148 feet, an increase of 14,968 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 25 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, lasting 2 minutes and covering 8 nautical miles, 23 miles south of Greenstone. The aircraft then began another climb, this time from 16,626 feet to 18,629 feet, an increase of 2,003 feet in 2 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles, 23 miles north of CYTJ Terrace Bay. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 34 minutes and covering 146 nautical miles, 16 miles north of CYTJ Terrace Bay.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began its descent, starting 16 miles east of Zeba, Michigan, and descending from 18,803 feet to 3,320 feet, a decrease of 15,483 feet in 14 minutes, covering 57 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 6 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile, 4 miles southwest of Kingsford, Michigan.
The final approach to runway 01 at KIMT Ford Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 9.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,255 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 01, which had a length of 1,972 meters, was characterized by a threshold height that was significantly above the target, and a threshold speed that was too high at 115 knots.
The touchdown point was 497 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 98 knots, which was too fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -228 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 3°C, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 190°, resulting in a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,129 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 253 nautical miles, taking 83 minutes, and the aircraft used 337 kilograms of fuel.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at KIMT Ford Airport, but the landing was not without its challenges. The final approach to runway 01 from the south was initiated at a heading of 9.0° and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway, with an altitude of 1,255 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 497 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the target. The touchdown speed of 98 knots was also too high, indicating that the pilot may have been unable to slow the aircraft down sufficiently before touchdown. The touchdown rate of -228 feet per minute was considered fair, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing.
The threshold height at 80 feet above ground level was significantly above the target, and the threshold speed of 115 knots was too high. These factors may have contributed to the difficulties experienced during the landing. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centerline, which could have added to the complexity of the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 3°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 190°. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 6 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's performance during the landing.
Despite the challenges, the Vision Jet aircraft was able to come to a stop within 1,129 meters of the runway, which is 57% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase of the landing. Overall, while the landing was not without its difficulties, the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a safe stop.
