Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,246 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 568 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Munich Airport, EDDM. This process took approximately 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 26L, with the aircraft taking off after covering 54% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 2,138 meters, and the liftoff speed was 155 knots.
As the aircraft climbed into the air, it encountered local weather conditions of 14°C temperature and a wind speed of 26 knots from a direction of 250°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 25 knots. The enroute climb started over Hallbergmoos in Bavaria, Germany, where the aircraft began its ascent from an altitude of 2,436 feet above sea level to 36,620 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 207 nautical miles and took 26 minutes, with the aircraft increasing its altitude by 34,184 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began over Meniska Vas in Dolenjske Toplice, Slovenia. This phase lasted for 71 minutes and covered a distance of 608 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, which began 17 miles northwest of Eresos in the North Aegean, Greece. The descent took 20 minutes and covered a distance of 119 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 37,037 feet above sea level to 1,716 feet above sea level.
The final approach to runway 34R at Adnan Menderes International Airport, LTBJ, was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 347.0° at an altitude of 1,314 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on runway 34R, which had a length of 3,246 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 139 knots. The touchdown point was 149 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 128 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -201 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 12°C temperature and a wind speed of 19 knots from a direction of 340°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 19 knots. The total landing distance was 1,340 meters, which was 41% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 943 nautical miles and took 127 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 6,188 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at LTBJ Adnan Menderes International Airport, achieving a score of 96.0%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the south, heading 347.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,314 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 34R, which has a length of 3,246 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down slightly beyond the touchdown zone, 149 meters past the designated area. The touchdown speed of 128 knots was slightly above the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to make adjustments to reduce the speed before touchdown. The touchdown rate of -201 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of landing without excessive deceleration.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 5.3 meters, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its direction and speed after touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 19 knots from 340°. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 19 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing. Despite these conditions, the pilot was able to successfully land the aircraft, demonstrating their skills and experience.
The total landing distance of 1,340 meters was 41% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and the pilot demonstrating good control and handling skills.
