Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,859 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 502 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A321 then departed from runway 21 at Eindhoven Airport (EHEH), with a takeoff distance of 1,744 meters, which accounted for 69% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 289 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the town of Oerle in the province of North Brabant, the Netherlands. The climb took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 70 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,075 feet above sea level to 26,786 feet above sea level, an increase of 25,711 feet. Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 9 minutes and covered a distance of 71 nautical miles, starting 4 miles west of the town of Duelmen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile east of the airfield at Donstorf UL Eydelstedt in the German state of Lower Saxony. The descent took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 73 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 26,760 feet above sea level to 1,304 feet above sea level, a decrease of 25,456 feet. The final approach to runway 23 at Hamburg-Finkenwerder Airport (EDHI) was made from the northeast, with the aircraft heading in a direction of 232.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,279 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 23 was successful, with the aircraft touching down 86 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was slightly above the target speed at 140 knots, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -523 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 5.3 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 16 knots from a direction of 270 degrees.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 8 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 222 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 59 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 2,603 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at EDHI Hamburg-Finkenwerder Airport, achieving a score of 90.9%. The final approach to runway 23 was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 232.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,279 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 1,859 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 140 knots. The touchdown point was located 86 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -523 feet per minute (fpm). This suggests that the aircraft may have experienced a significant deceleration upon touchdown.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 5.3 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing included a temperature of 16°C, with a wind speed of 16 knots at 270°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slight deviations in the landing performance.
Despite the minor issues, the total landing distance of 1,143 meters was 62% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite some minor deviations from the ideal landing performance.
