Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,724 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,724 m of the 3,192 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 381 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight on the Boeing 777-300 began with a short 5-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at ZBAA Beijing Capital. The departure from runway 36R involved a takeoff distance of 1,432 meters, covering 38% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 174 knots, with the local weather conditions at the time showing a temperature of 11°C and a 3 knot wind coming from 77°, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 0 knots.
The enroute climb started over ZBAA Beijing Capital, climbing from 1,131 feet above sea level to 34,915 feet, covering a distance of 93 nautical miles in 16 minutes. The level cruise portion of the flight began over Hongshilacun in Hebei Sheng, lasting for 46 minutes and covering 384 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 22 miles southwest of Songyuan in Jilin Sheng, descending from 34,503 feet to 4,946 feet over a period of 14 minutes and covering 86 nautical miles. Following this, there was another brief level cruise segment starting 6 miles northwest of ZYHB Taiping Harbin for 2 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles.
The final descent began 11 miles north of ZYHB Taiping Harbin, descending from 4,819 feet to 2,167 feet over 4 minutes and covering 7 nautical miles. The landing took place on runway 23 at ZYHB Taiping, with the runway measuring 3,192 meters in length. The height at threshold was 42 feet above ground level, with a speed of 144 knots at threshold. The touchdown occurred 383 meters from the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 144 knots and a vertical speed indicator reading of -392 feet per minute. The local weather conditions during landing were a temperature of 5°C and a 1 knot wind coming from 180°, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,650 meters, equivalent to 52% of the runway length. Taxiing from the runway to the parking area took 4 minutes. The entire flight covered a distance of 588 nautical miles, lasting 97 minutes and consuming 11,701 kilograms of fuel.
First and foremost, congratulations on achieving an impressive aircraft landing score of 98.2%! This exceptional rating is a testament to the skill and precision demonstrated throughout the various phases of the landing process.
Starting with the Approach Phase, it is noted that there was excellent glideslope alignment. This is crucial for ensuring a smooth descent towards the runway and sets the foundation for a successful landing. Maintaining precise alignment during this phase is key to setting up for a stable approach.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is commendable that the threshold height was good and the landing flare was executed very well. Properly adjusting the threshold height ensures a safe and timely touchdown, while a well-executed landing flare allows for a smoother transition from descent to touchdown.
In the Touchdown Phase, it is noted that the touchdown rate was hard, but the speed was on target. Despite the firm touchdown, maintaining the correct speed is important for reducing the risk of a bounced landing and ensuring a safe touchdown. Additionally, the touchdown distance inside the touchdown zone and the runway touchdown position being only 1.8 meters from the centerline indicates precise control during this critical phase.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment was very good. This indicates that the aircraft maintained a straight path down the runway after touchdown, demonstrating excellent control and alignment with the runway centerline.
Overall, this detailed analysis highlights the strong performance across all phases of the landing process. Your proficiency in maintaining alignment, executing a stable approach, and ensuring a safe touchdown are key factors in achieving such a high landing score. Keep up the excellent work and continue to refine your skills to further enhance your performance in future landings. Great job!
