Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,674 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,674 m of the 2,753 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 547 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 22R at John F. Kennedy International Airport (KJFK). The takeoff distance was 1,789 meters, which accounted for 68% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 172 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 9°C temperature and a wind speed of 10 knots at 196 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 10 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile northwest of Far Rockaway, New York, and involved a significant increase in altitude from 1,055 feet above sea level to 34,358 feet above sea level, a total increase of 33,303 feet. This climb took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 122 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 13 miles east of Dewey Beach, Delaware. This phase lasted for 24 minutes and covered a distance of 617 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 4 miles northeast of Butler Beach, Florida, and involved a decrease in altitude from 32,594 feet above sea level to 1,389 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 31,205 feet. This descent took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 91 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 35R at Orlando International Airport (KMCO) was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 360.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,286 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. However, a go-around was initiated at an altitude of 38 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 35R, which had a length of 2,753 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 141 knots.
The touchdown point was 132 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was slightly faster than desired. However, the touchdown rate was good at -156 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 20°C temperature and a wind speed of 6 knots at 30 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,595 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 848 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 82 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 7,590 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 35R at KMCO Orlando International Airport, with a score of 92.7%. The final approach was initiated from the south, heading 360.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,286 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach to the runway was satisfactory, with a threshold height that was well above the target, indicating a safe margin for landing.
Upon landing, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 151 kt, but this was corrected in the subsequent landing attempt, where the threshold speed was good at 141 kt. The touchdown point was 132 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 134 kt was a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -156 fpm was good, indicating a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 20°C and a wind speed of 6 kt at 30°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 kt, while the headwind component was 6 kt, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and improve the landing performance.
The total landing distance of 1,595 meters was 58% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop in a controlled manner, and the pilot's skills and experience were evident in the execution of the landing.
