Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 382 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 382 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 69 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at AYHX Herowena Airstrip took approximately 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll commenced on runway 35, with the Kodiak 100 aircraft utilizing 76% of the available runway length to achieve liftoff at a speed of 69 knots. Local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 16 °C, with a light wind of 2 knots from a direction of 269°, resulting in a negligible crosswind component.
Following a successful takeoff, the aircraft began its enroute climb approximately 1 mile north of AYHX Herowena Airstrip, ascending from an initial altitude of 5,832 feet above sea level to 9,997 feet, an increase of 4,165 feet, within a 3-minute period and covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. Subsequently, the aircraft transitioned into a level cruise phase, commencing 4 miles southeast of AYGW Guwasa Airport, and lasting for 3 minutes, during which time it covered a distance of 11 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 1 mile southeast of AYNO Nomane Airport, with the aircraft descending from 10,006 feet to 6,194 feet, a decrease of 3,812 feet, within a 5-minute period and covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26 at AYNO Nomane Airport was conducted from the east, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 262.0° at an altitude of 160 feet above ground level, 0 nautical miles from the threshold. The landing was executed with a threshold speed slightly below the target value of 61 knots, resulting in a touchdown distance of 67 meters. The touchdown speed of 58 knots and touchdown rate of 211 feet per minute were both within acceptable limits. The total landing distance of 279 meters represented 73% of the available runway length, and the runway rollout alignment was satisfactory. The total flight distance of 29 nautical miles was completed within 15 minutes, with the aircraft utilizing 36 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft touched down smoothly on runway 26 at AYNO Nomane Airport, with a threshold height that met expectations. The approach quality was excellent, with a steady descent and a threshold speed of 61 kt, which was slightly below the target. However, this minor deviation did not impact the overall performance of the landing.
As the aircraft made contact with the runway, it exhibited good touchdown characteristics, with a speed of 58 kt and a touchdown rate of 211 fpm, which was perfectly within the desired parameters. The runway touchdown alignment was also spot on, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The touchdown distance of 67 m was also good, considering the runway length of 382 m.
Following touchdown, the aircraft rolled out smoothly, maintaining very good alignment with the runway centerline. The total landing distance of 279 m was 73% of the runway length, which is well within the acceptable range. Overall, the landing was a success, with a score of 98.2% reflecting the high level of proficiency demonstrated by the pilot. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a gentle headwind of 2 kt, also contributed to the smooth execution of the landing.
