MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,999 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 290 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at ENKR Kirkenes Airport, Høybuktmoen. This process took approximately 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 23, with a takeoff distance of 1,219 meters, which accounted for 76% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 174 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 14°C and wind speeds of 20 knots at 199 degrees. The crosswind was 15 knots, while the headwind was 13 knots. After departing from the airport, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile west of ENKR Kirkenes Airport. The climb took 19 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,147 feet above sea level to 29,706 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 128 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 12 miles southeast of Alta, Troms og Finnmark, Norway. The descent took 18 minutes, during which the aircraft decreased its altitude from 29,705 feet above sea level to 1,697 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 96 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, Tromsø Airport, Langnes, it began its final approach to runway 18 from the north, heading 193.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,660 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 290 meters and a touchdown speed of 139 knots, which was slightly faster than the threshold speed. The touchdown rate was hard at -449 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 12°C and wind speeds of 13 knots at 209 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 12 knots. The total landing distance was 823 meters, which accounted for 41% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 231 nautical miles and took 47 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 2,305 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENTC Tromsø Airport, Langnes, with a score of 96.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 193.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,660 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 18, which has a length of 1,999 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 141 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the landing phase. The touchdown distance of 290 meters was also good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down within a safe distance from the runway threshold.
However, the touchdown speed of 139 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown rate of -449 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 13 knots from 209°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots. These conditions did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing.
The total landing distance of 823 meters was 41% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its alignment with the runway centerline during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft was able to come to a safe stop within a short distance from the runway threshold.
