MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,831 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,831 m of the 2,698 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 906 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-300 taxied from the parking area to runway 10 at SBGL Rio Galeão - Tom Jobim International Airport in 8 minutes, covering 3 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 10, the aircraft accelerated over a takeoff distance of 1,723 m (43 % of the runway) and lifted off at 184 kt; ambient temperature was 30 °C with wind 3 kt from 140°, a 3 kt cross-wind component and a 1 kt head-wind.
The first en-route climb began 2 mi north-east of SBGL, climbing from 1,071 ft asl to 14,001 ft asl - a gain of 12,930 ft - in 7 minutes while covering 40 nm.
A short level cruise commenced 4 mi south-west of Areal, lasting 2 minutes and extending 10 nm.
The second climb segment started 1 mi south-west of Tres Rios, rising from 14,189 ft asl to 32,009 ft asl - an increase of 17,820 ft - in 12 minutes and traversing 98 nm.
A subsequent cruise phase began 16 mi west of Conselheiro Lafaiete, lasting 67 minutes and covering 593 nm.
The third climb was initiated 6 mi north of SBGG Natividade Airstrip, climbing from 32,007 ft asl to 33,791 ft asl - a gain of 1,783 ft - in 2 minutes over 15 nm.
The next cruise segment started 21 mi south-west of SBQK Fazenda Mundial Airport, lasting 240 minutes and encompassing 2,029 nm.
A further climb began 27 mi south-east of VI32 Christiansted Harbor Seaplane Base, climbing from 34,568 ft asl to 36,000 ft asl - an increase of 1,433 ft - in 2 minutes while covering 14 nm.
The following cruise started 12 mi south-east of the same seaplane base, lasting 197 minutes and spanning 1,628 nm.
Descent commenced 9 mi east of Chatham, Massachusetts, descending from 35,997 ft asl to 1,333 ft asl - a loss of 34,663 ft - in 24 minutes and covering 128 nm.
On final approach to runway 04R at KBOS Logan International Airport, the aircraft approached from the south on a heading of 20.0° at 4 nm and 1,303 ft agl.
Landing on runway 04R, which is 2,698 m long, was achieved with a threshold speed of 145 kt; touchdown occurred 492 m beyond the touchdown zone at 135 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 162 fpm and a lateral deviation of 3.4 m from the centreline. Local weather reported a temperature of 23 °C and wind 4 kt from 210°, including a 1 kt cross-wind and a 4 kt tail-wind component.
The total landing distance recorded was 1,752 m (65 % of the runway) and the rollout alignment was described as very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 4,566 nm, lasted 564 minutes, and consumed 77,661 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 04R at KBOS Logan International Airport was flown from the south on a heading of 20.0° at 4 nm and 1,303 ft agl. At the 1,000 ft gate the approach was assessed as unstable, being off the centreline.
Threshold height was good and the aircraft established the required threshold speed of 145 kt, which was judged good for the flare.
Touchdown occurred 492 m beyond the designated touchdown zone with a speed of 135 kt, rated good, and a vertical rate of minus 162 fpm, also good. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned, 3.4 m from the centreline, and the total landing distance measured 1,752 m, representing 65 % of the 2,698 m runway.
Runway rollout alignment was very good throughout the deceleration phase.
Maintain precise centreline tracking during the final approach to avoid the off-centreline condition, and aim to place the main gear within the touchdown zone to reduce lateral offset at touchdown. These adjustments will refine an already strong performance reflected by the 95.1 % score.
