MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,077 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,077 m of the 3,342 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 941 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 24 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, Philippines. The takeoff distance was 1,611 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 172 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius and winds of 8 knots at 300 degrees. The crosswind was 7 knots, while the headwind was 4 knots. After departing from Manila, the enroute climb began 1 mile southwest of the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,062 feet above sea level to 39,490 feet above sea level, an increase of 38,428 feet in 17 minutes and covering a distance of 111 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 10 miles west of Aritao in the Cagayan Valley, Philippines, and lasted for 51 minutes, covering a distance of 406 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 6 miles north of Tainan in Taiwan, descending from 39,112 feet above sea level to 1,576 feet above sea level, a decrease of 37,536 feet in 23 minutes and covering a distance of 126 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 05R at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport was made from the southwest, heading 49.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,490 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 05R was successful, with the touchdown point being 510 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 135 knots, which was slightly fast, while the touchdown rate was firm at -303 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and winds of 12 knots at 30 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 12 knots. The total landing distance was 1,981 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 652 nautical miles, taking 102 minutes, and the aircraft used 12,331 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at RCTP Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, with a score of 85.0%. The final approach to runway 05R was initiated from the southwest, heading 49.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,490 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 05R, which has a length of 3,342 meters. The threshold height at 75 feet agl was found to be well above the target, indicating a safe margin for the aircraft to touch down. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 148 knots, which may have been due to the aircraft's approach speed being slightly higher than desired.
The touchdown point was located 510 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively significant distance. The touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast, indicating that the aircraft may have been able to touch down earlier and with a lower speed. The touchdown rate was firm at -303 feet per minute (fpm), which is within the acceptable range.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its alignment with the runway after touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 12 knots at 30°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing performance, but the pilot was able to successfully navigate the aircraft to a safe touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement, such as reducing the touchdown speed and improving the alignment with the runway centerline.
