Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,752 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,752 m of the 2,587 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 444 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The F-35A Lightning II took off from runway 28 at C29 Middleton Muni - Morey Field, covering a takeoff distance of 770 meters, which was 63% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 192 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 36 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 19 knots from a direction of 199 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 19 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
As the aircraft began its enroute climb, it started to ascend from an altitude of 1,458 feet above sea level to 3,197 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,738 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. This climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which started 1 mile south east of KMSN Dane County Regional Truax Field Madison and lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 68 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time from 3,257 feet above sea level to 10,330 feet above sea level, an increase of 7,073 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 35 nautical miles. Following this climb, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which started 28 miles west of Norton Shores and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 75 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent from 10,465 feet above sea level to 2,170 feet above sea level, a decrease of 8,295 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 39 nautical miles. The descent phase was followed by a short level cruise, which started 2 miles north of 89Y Maidens Airport Williamston and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 28L at KLAN Capital City Airport was made from the east, heading 272.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,391 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, which had a length of 2,587 meters. The threshold height at 62 feet above ground level was above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 172 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 446 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 157 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -267 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 21 knots from a direction of 188 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 21 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,682 meters, which was 65% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was excessively misaligned by 47.1 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 238 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 33 minutes. The aircraft used 2,922 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The F-35A Lightning II aircraft successfully landed on runway 28L at KLAN Capital City Airport, but with some notable deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 272.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,391 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 157 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown distance of 446 meters was considered good, indicating that the pilot maintained control and managed the aircraft's descent effectively. However, the touchdown rate of -267 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the pilot could have managed the aircraft's descent more smoothly.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the pilot's judgment or the aircraft's handling characteristics. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 33°C and a wind speed of 21 knots at 188°, may have also contributed to the slight misalignment.
The total landing distance of 1,682 meters was 65% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was excessively misaligned by 47.1 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilot may have struggled to maintain control during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, but with some areas for improvement. The pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's descent and maintain control during the rollout phase will require further refinement to achieve a more ideal landing performance.
