MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,285 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 512 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a TBM 930, then departed from runway 32 at Gisborne Airport (NZGS). The takeoff distance was 570 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 95 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 210 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a tailwind of 6 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of Gisborne and reaching an altitude of 6,965 feet above sea level (asl) after climbing 5,942 feet in 4 minutes and covering 15 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles north of Te Karaka and lasted 7 minutes, covering 28 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, this time from 6,967 feet asl to 19,963 feet asl, an increase of 12,996 feet in 9 minutes and covering 35 nautical miles. This climb started 9 miles south of Opotiki Airport (NZOP).
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 3 miles northwest of Matata and lasted 4 minutes, covering 21 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 3 miles southeast of Tauranga Airport (NZTG) and descending from 19,941 feet asl to 1,298 feet asl, a decrease of 18,643 feet in 21 minutes and covering 79 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 23L at Auckland International Airport (NZAA) was made from the east, heading 250 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,264 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was made on runway 23L, which had a length of 3,285 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 88 knots.
The touchdown point was 78 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 77 knots. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -128 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 230 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 831 meters, which accounted for 25% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 185 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 54 minutes. The aircraft used 162 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The TBM 930 aircraft successfully landed on runway 23L at Auckland International Airport (NZAA) with a score of 98.9%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 250.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,264 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, indicating a stable and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the threshold speed was recorded at 88 knots, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed of 77 knots was slightly faster than desired, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to maintain a more controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -128 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a gentle and controlled touchdown.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain a stable and aligned approach. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 23°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from 230°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots, which helped to stabilize the approach.
The total landing distance of 831 meters was 25% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and stability during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop in a controlled and stable manner.
