Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,996 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 786 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 32 at SLCB Jorge Wilsterman International Airport. The aircraft, a TBM 850, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 98 kt, covering a distance of 682 m, which was 20% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 16 °C and a wind speed of 1 kt from 270 °, resulting in a negligible crosswind and headwind.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile northwest of SLCB Jorge Wilsterman International Airport. The climb was steep, with the aircraft ascending from 8,853 ft above sea level to 19,500 ft above sea level, an increase of 10,647 ft in just 11 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 68 nm.
After reaching the desired cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 22 minutes and covered a distance of 53 nm. This phase of the flight took place 4 miles west of Quime, in the Departamento de La Paz, Bolivia.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent 11 miles south of SLLP El Alto International Airport. The descent was rapid, with the aircraft descending from 19,493 ft above sea level to 14,173 ft above sea level, a decrease of 5,319 ft in just 5 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 13 nm.
The final approach to runway 10 at SLLP El Alto International Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 92.0 ° at 4 nm and 954 ft above ground level. The landing was made on a runway with a length of 3,996 m, and the threshold height was above the target, while the threshold speed was too high at 83 kt.
The touchdown point was 360 m beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 75 kt, which was faster than desired. However, the touchdown rate was perfect at 49 fpm, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 °C and a wind speed of 1 kt from 269 °, resulting in a negligible crosswind and a tailwind of 1 kt.
The total landing distance was 1,387 m, which was 35% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway, covering a distance of less than 1 nm in just 1 minute.
The total flight distance was 140 nm, and the flight duration was 28 minutes. The aircraft used 101 kg of fuel during the flight.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at SLLP El Alto International Airport, achieving a score of 89.6%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 92.0° at 4 nautical miles and 954 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft landed on runway 10, which has a length of 3,996 meters.
Upon analysis, it was noted that the threshold height at 63 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high during the approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 83 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown.
The touchdown point was 360 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively significant distance. However, the touchdown speed of 75 knots was fast, and the touchdown rate of 49 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect. This suggests that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of touchdown effectively, despite the high speed.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained a stable and aligned approach to the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot at 269°. The crosswind component was negligible, and the tailwind component was minimal at 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 1,387 meters was 35% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of threshold speed and touchdown point.
