Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 3,748 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 3,748 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,006 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
A Cessna M500 aircraft departed from Muskegon County Airport (KMKG) on runway 32. The takeoff distance was 1,947 feet, which comprised 32 percent of the total runway. The liftoff speed was 107 knots, and the aircraft encountered a local wind of 12 knots from 330 degrees. As a result, the headwind was 11 knots, and the crosswind was just 3 knots.
After departing, the aircraft started its enroute climb overhead Norton Shores, Michigan. During the climb, the aircraft increased its altitude from 1,134 feet above sea level (asl) to 2,580 feet asl in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. This marked the onset of the enroute level cruise, which began roughly 2 miles west of the 34MI De Witt Property Airport in Spring Lake, Michigan. The cruise lasted for 3 minutes during which the aircraft covered 9 nautical miles.
Following the cruise, the enroute descent started 3 miles southeast of the 3GM Grand Haven Memorial Airport in Grand Haven, Michigan. During this descent, the aircraft decreased its altitude from 2,327 feet asl to 1,282 feet asl in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The descent eventually led the aircraft towards runway 27 at the 3GM Grand Haven Memorial Airport for the final approach.
The final approach was initiated from the east, with the aircraft heading towards the runway at a bearing of 271 degrees. At a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway, the aircraft's altitude above ground level (agl) was 667 feet. The local wind conditions during the final approach consisted of a 10-knot wind from 324 degrees, with a crosswind of 9 knots and headwind of 6 knots.
The aircraft successfully landed on runway 27, which was 3,748 feet in length. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed exceeded the target at 104 knots. Additionally, the touchdown distance was also good at 1,006 feet, although the touchdown speed of 96 knots was slightly fast. The touchdown rate was excellent at -68 feet per minute.
The overall performance of the Cessna M500 aircraft was satisfactory, given the conditions encountered during the flight. The total flight distance was 19 nautical miles, covering a duration of 8 minutes. In that time, the aircraft consumed 66 pounds of fuel.
The aircraft in question, identified as the M500, successfully landed on runway 27 at the Grand Haven Memorial Airport (3GM). The final approach to the runway began from the east, at a heading of 271.0°, and was executed at an altitude of 667 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway threshold.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated good control and precision, with a touchdown distance of 1,006 feet. This falls within an acceptable range, considering the available runway length of 3,748 feet. The touchdown speed, however, was higher than the target speed, registering at 96 knots. Despite this, the overall touchdown rate was excellent, with a decrease of 68 feet per minute. This suggests a smooth transition from the landing configuration to the touchdown phase.
