Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,737 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 724 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the departure roll from runway 30 at EGPK Glasgow Prestwick Airport. The aircraft, Sirius, required a takeoff distance of 151 meters, which was 6% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 59 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft entered the left-hand pattern from runway 30, it demonstrated a swift and efficient maneuver, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile in just 43 seconds. The subsequent left-hand pattern crosswind leg also showed impressive agility, with the aircraft completing the turn in less than 1 nautical mile in 48 seconds. The pattern downwind leg was slightly longer, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles in 138 seconds.
The final approach to runway 30 was made from the south-east, with the aircraft heading 302.0 degrees at an altitude of 39.2 meters above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway threshold. The landing on runway 30 was executed with precision, with the touchdown point located 321 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 38 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was perfect at -0.1 meters per second. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.9 meters.
The local weather conditions remained consistent throughout the flight, with a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots. The total flight distance was 4 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 5 minutes. Notably, the aircraft used no fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, identified as Sirius, successfully landed on runway 30 at EGPK Glasgow Prestwick Airport. The final approach was initiated from the south east, heading 302.0° at an altitude of 39.2 meters above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft's approach was characterized by a slightly below-target threshold speed of 50 knots, which is still within a safe range for a controlled landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was recorded at 38 knots, which is considered good and indicates a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -0.1 meters per second is also perfect, signifying a gentle and stable landing. However, the touchdown point was located 321 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing path.
Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.9 meters from the centerline, which could be attributed to a minor deviation in the aircraft's approach or a slight drift during the landing roll. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle headwind of 2 knots at 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, which further contributed to a smooth landing.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a score of 83.6%. While there were some minor deviations from the target parameters, the pilot's skills and the aircraft's performance ensured a safe and controlled landing on runway 30 at EGPK Glasgow Prestwick Airport.
