Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,360 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 467 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 26R at Harry Reid International Airport (KLAS) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The takeoff distance was 2,061 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 160 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and winds blowing at 11 knots from a direction of 163 degrees. The crosswind component was 11 knots, while the tailwind component was 3 knots. The enroute climb began 2 miles southeast of Spring Valley, Nevada, and involved a significant ascent from 2,672 feet above sea level to 36,954 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,283 feet in just 15 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 82 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 12 miles south of Fort Irwin Airport (KFOW) in California. This phase lasted for 334 minutes and covered a distance of 2,166 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 79 miles northeast of Honomu, Hawaii. The descent involved a decrease of 35,328 feet in altitude from 36,682 feet above sea level to 1,354 feet above sea level in just 25 minutes, covering a distance of 127 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 17 at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole (PHKO) was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 184.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,304 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 17, which had a length of 3,360 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 149 knots.
The touchdown point was 58 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 142 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -378 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and winds blowing at 3 knots from a direction of 249 degrees, with a crosswind component of 3 knots and a headwind component of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,208 meters, which accounted for 36% of the runway. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took just 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 2,386 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 382 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 14,666 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at PHKO Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole, achieving a score of 97.8%. The final approach to runway 17 was initiated from the north, heading 184.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,304 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 58 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the target area. The touchdown speed of 142 knots was a bit faster than the target speed, indicating that the pilots may have needed to apply more braking force to bring the aircraft to a stop. However, the touchdown rate of -378 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a gentle wind of 3 knots at 249°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions likely contributed to a smooth and stable approach.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilots maintained the aircraft's alignment with the runway during the final stages of the approach. Similarly, the runway rollout alignment was also perfect, suggesting that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
The total landing distance of 1,208 meters was 36% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilots demonstrated good control and precision during the approach and landing phases.
