Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,787 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,787 m of the 2,990 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 592 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an EasyJet FWB, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at SBES Tenente Jorge Henrique Möller Airport. This process took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 07, with a takeoff distance of 1,234 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 143 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started at an altitude of 1,085 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 39,666 feet above sea level, an increase of 38,581 feet in 20 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 124 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise began 2 miles northeast of Carangola, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and lasted for 51 minutes, covering 377 nautical miles.
The aircraft then started its descent from 40,147 feet above sea level to 16,041 feet above sea level, a decrease of 24,107 feet in 12 minutes, covering 81 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute level cruise, which started 6 miles southwest of SDLO Fábio Perini Airport Cairu, Bahia, Brazil, and lasted for 19 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The aircraft then began its descent from 15,755 feet above sea level to 10,774 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,981 feet in 3 minutes, covering 16 nautical miles. Another enroute level cruise started 4 miles east of SNPP Morro de São Paulo Airport Cairu, Bahia, Brazil, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The aircraft then started its descent from 10,726 feet above sea level to 5,475 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,251 feet in 5 minutes, covering 21 nautical miles. Another enroute level cruise started 9 miles southeast of SNVR Aeroclube da Bahia Airport Vera Cruz, Bahia, Brazil, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The aircraft then began its descent from 5,475 feet above sea level to 1,323 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,152 feet in 7 minutes, covering 19 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 10 at SBSV Deputado Luiz Eduardo Magalhães International Airport was made from the west, heading 79.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,278 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 10 was successful, with the touchdown point being 176 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 122 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -304 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, despite the local weather conditions, which included a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, wind of 12 knots at 210 degrees, and a crosswind of 9 knots and a tailwind of 8 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,707 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.2 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxiied to the parking area from the runway, taking approximately 5 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 645 nautical miles, taking 111 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,678 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, an EasyJet flight, successfully landed at SBSV Deputado Luiz Eduardo Magalhães International Airport, scoring an overall grade of 88.0%. The final approach to runway 10 was initiated from the west, with the aircraft heading 79.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being above the target at 60 feet above ground level. However, the threshold speed was satisfactory at 127 knots, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown point was located 176 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 122 knots was also within acceptable limits, suggesting that the aircraft was properly configured for landing. The touchdown rate of -304 feet per minute was firm, indicating a controlled and stable descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27°C and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 210°. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the tailwind component was 8 knots. These conditions may have presented some challenges for the pilot, but they did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance was 1,707 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured and the pilot executed a smooth and controlled landing. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.2 meters from the centerline, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended path during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with the aircraft scoring an 88.0% grade. While there were some minor deviations from the intended landing spot and rollout alignment, the pilot executed a smooth and controlled landing, taking into account the challenging weather conditions.
