MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,972 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,972 m of the 4,304 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 716 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-300ER taxied from the parking area to runway 31L at KJFK, a movement that required six minutes and covered two nautical miles.
During the departure roll on runway 31L, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 198 kt after traveling 1,285 m, which represented 38 % of the runway length; ambient temperature was 33 °C with a wind of 6 kt from 350°, a 5 kt crosswind component and a 4 kt headwind.
The initial climb began overhead Howard Beach, New York, where the airplane rose from 1,009 ft to 30,996 ft asl-a gain of 29,987 ft-in twenty minutes while covering 137 nm.
Level cruise commenced one mile north-east of Cromwell, Connecticut, lasting thirty-four minutes and extending over 298 nm.
A subsequent climb started two miles north of East Machias, Maine, climbing from 31,008 ft to 32,990 ft asl, an increase of 1,982 ft in three minutes and traversing 29 nm.
The next cruise segment began eleven miles east of Robbinston, Maine, and continued for two hundred thirty-five minutes, covering 2,155 nm.
A further climb was initiated one hundred miles north-west of Belmullet, Connaught, Ireland, where altitude increased from 33,123 ft to 35,048 ft asl, a gain of 1,925 ft in two minutes across 15 nm.
Following that, the aircraft entered a cruise phase eighty-six miles north-west of EIBT Belmullet Aerodrome, lasting two hundred forty-seven minutes and spanning 2,191 nm.
The final climb of the outbound segment started twenty-three miles south-east of Akdere, Turkey, raising the airplane from 35,083 ft to 36,813 ft asl, an ascent of 1,730 ft in two minutes while covering 13 nm.
Cruise then continued eleven miles north-west of Rizokarpaso, Cyprus, for one hundred fifty minutes, a distance of 1,226 nm.
Descent began forty-five miles south-west of OIBK Kish International Airport, Iran, with the aircraft descending from 36,999 ft to 1,295 ft asl, a loss of 35,704 ft in thirty-six minutes and covering 176 nm.
The final approach to runway 30L at OMDB Dubai International Airport was executed from the south-east, on a heading of 301.0° at four nautical miles and 1,257 ft above ground level.
Landing on runway 30L, which is 4,304 m long, occurred with a threshold height of 56 ft agl slightly above target and a threshold speed of 143 kt; touchdown was recorded 686 m beyond the touchdown zone at 139 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 152 fpm and a lateral deviation of 5.9 m from the centreline, while local conditions were 38 °C, wind 5 kt from 200°, a 5 kt crosswind and a 1 kt tailwind.
The rollout distance measured 2,276 m, representing 53 % of the runway, and alignment during rollout was reported as very good.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in two minutes, covering less than one nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered 6,249 nm, required 740 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 100,799 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 777-300ER on final approach to runway 30L at OMDB Dubai International Airport was aligned on a heading of 301.0° at 4 nm and 1,257 ft agl; the approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits, and the ambient conditions were temperature 38 °C, wind 5 kt from 200°, a 5 kt cross-wind component and a 1 kt tail-wind component.
At threshold the aircraft encountered a height of 56 ft agl, noted as slightly above target, and established a threshold speed of 143 kt, which was judged good.
Touchdown occurred 686 m beyond the designated touchdown zone with a speed of 139 kt, both recorded as good, and a vertical rate of -152 fpm, also good; the touchdown point was laterally offset by 5.9 m from the centreline, and the total landing distance measured 2,276 m, representing 53 % of the runway length.
Rollout alignment on the runway was reported as very good.
To refine future performances, aim to achieve touchdown nearer the intended touchdown zone and reduce the lateral offset to the centreline, which will further optimise runway usage and alignment.
