MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,758 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,758 m of the 3,242 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 589 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A321 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport, taking approximately 5 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 23, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,377 meters, which was 49% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 166 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 9°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 170°. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of Hamburg-Nord, and climbed from an altitude of 1,081 feet above sea level to 34,367 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,285 feet, in 22 minutes and covering 122 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 2 miles west of Gross Kreutz, and lasted for 50 minutes, covering 368 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Ihova, and descended from 34,136 feet above sea level to 4,466 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,670 feet, in 12 minutes and covering 61 nautical miles. The descent was followed by a brief level cruise, starting 1 mile west of LDZR Bratina Zagreb, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 1 mile southeast of Bratina, and descended from 4,007 feet above sea level to 1,634 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,373 feet, in 4 minutes and covering 8 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 04 at LDZA Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 47.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,275 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 04, which had a length of 3,242 meters. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 142 knots. The touchdown point was 168 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 131 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -406 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 25 knots from a direction of 20°. This resulted in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 23 knots. The total landing distance was 1,672 meters, which was 52% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 570 nautical miles, taking 97 minutes, and the aircraft used 4,790 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at LDZA Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport, with a score of 91.3%. The final approach to runway 04 was initiated from the south west, heading 47.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 04, which has a length of 3,242 meters. The threshold height at 63 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired at the point of touchdown. The threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 142 knots, suggesting that the aircraft may have been slightly faster than necessary for a smooth touchdown.
The touchdown point was located 168 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively short distance. However, the touchdown speed of 131 knots was a little fast, indicating that the aircraft may have been experiencing some deceleration issues during the landing. The touchdown rate was also hard at -406 feet per minute (fpm), which is a relatively high rate of descent.
Despite these minor issues, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 25 knots at 20°. The crosswind component was 11 knots, while the headwind component was 23 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,672 meters, which is 52% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to decelerate quickly and efficiently after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase of the landing.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor issues with the touchdown speed and rate. However, the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway, and the landing distance was relatively short.
