Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,233 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 122 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 10 at Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (LIMJ), with a takeoff distance of 1,142 meters, which was 41% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 149 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 180°. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of the airport, and climbed from an altitude of 1,034 feet above sea level to 15,424 feet above sea level, an increase of 14,390 feet, in just 4 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase began 1 mile west of Masone, Italy, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, beginning overhead Acqui Terme, Italy, and descended from an altitude of 16,073 feet above sea level to 2,232 feet above sea level, a decrease of 13,840 feet, in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 45 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 36 at Turin Airport (LIMF) was made from the south, with a heading of 3.0°, at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,267 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 124 meters, which was 43% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 113 knots, which was good, but the touchdown rate was very hard, at -505 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 8°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 30°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 76 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 32 minutes. The aircraft used 1,198 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at LIMF Turin Airport, achieving a high score of 96.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 3.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,267 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed smoothly on runway 36, which has a length of 2,233 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 117 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 124 meters was considered good, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down effectively before touching down. The touchdown speed of 113 knots was also within acceptable limits, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the landing.
Despite the good touchdown speed, the touchdown rate was quite hard at -505 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate that the aircraft touched down with a bit too much force. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 8°C and a gentle wind of 3 knots at 30°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 3 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance.
The total landing distance of 966 meters was 43% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain control and align with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft was able to touch down safely on the runway. However, the hard touchdown rate may indicate that the pilot could have taken a slightly more gentle approach to the landing.
