Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed below the reference speed.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed, off the runway's 3° glideslope and speed below the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,536 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 854 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A321 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at HEAX El Nuzha Airport, a process that took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. Departure roll took place on runway 22, with the aircraft taking off after covering 49% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,063 meters, and the liftoff speed was 149 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 19°C, with winds blowing at 18 knots from a direction of 69°. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a tailwind of 16 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of HEAX El Nuzha Airport and Alexandria, Egypt. The climb took place from an initial altitude of 1,095 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 36,039 feet, an increase of 34,944 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 75 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 74 miles northwest of Rosetta, Egypt, and lasted for 59 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 436 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 8 miles southeast of Domanic, Turkey, and descending from an altitude of 35,567 feet to 8,012 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 66 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 1 mile west of Korfez, Turkey, and lasting for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent again, starting 6 miles southeast of Agva, Turkey, and descending from an altitude of 7,970 feet to 4,693 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 5 miles northwest of Cat, Turkey, and lasting for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 8 miles west of Cat, Turkey, and descending from an altitude of 4,677 feet to 1,813 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24L at LTFJ Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport took place from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 244.0° at an altitude of 1,506 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on the runway, which had a length of 3,536 meters. The threshold height at 66 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 122 knots.
The touchdown point was 426 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 115 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -262 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with winds blowing at 18 knots from a direction of 230°. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 17 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,297 meters, which was 37% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.2 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took 8 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 627 nautical miles, taking a
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at LTFJ Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, with a score of 85.9%. The final approach to runway 24L was initiated from the north east, heading 244.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,506 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach to the runway was generally good, with a threshold speed of 122 knots, which met the target. However, the threshold height at 66 feet agl was above the target, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal approach path. The touchdown point was 426 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively significant deviation.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 115 knots, which was within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown rate of -262 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, indicating that the aircraft may have touched down slightly harder than desired. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 3.8 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 18 knots from 230°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 17 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slight deviations in the approach and touchdown.
The total landing distance was 1,297 meters, which is 37% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop quickly after touchdown. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 10.2 meters from the centerline, which may indicate some issues with the aircraft's braking or directional control.
Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the Airbus A321 aircraft was able to safely touch down on runway 24L at LTFJ Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, with a score of 85.9%.
