Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 6,179 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,179 ft of the 9,691 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,333 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 10 at TFFF Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport. The takeoff distance was 4,720 feet, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 164 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 94 degrees Fahrenheit and winds of 8 knots at 110 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile north of Ducos, Martinique. The climb took 25 minutes and covered a distance of 172 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,075 feet above sea level to 34,124 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,050 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 15 miles northwest of Cedar Grove, Antigua and Barbuda. This phase lasted for 107 minutes and covered a distance of 810 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting at a latitude of 30.4403208 and a longitude of -65.5002771. The descent took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 122 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 34,183 feet above sea level to 1,568 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,615 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 11 miles southeast of TXKF L.F. Wade International Airport, Hamilton, Bermuda. This phase lasted for only 3 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 30 at TXKF L.F. Wade International Airport, approaching from the east at a heading of 281.0 degrees and at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,235 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 30 was successful, with the touchdown point being 1,007 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 150 knots, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was fair at -217 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 15 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit and winds of 4 knots at 200 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 5,953 feet, which accounted for 61% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 30 feet from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,123 nautical miles, taking 175 minutes, and the aircraft used 17,869 pounds of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at TXKF L.F. Wade International Airport, with a score of 92.1%. The final approach to runway 30 was initiated from the east, heading 281.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,235 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the threshold speed was found to be well above the target speed, reaching 158 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 150 knots was slightly faster than desired. The touchdown rate of -217 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating a relatively smooth landing. The touchdown point was located 1,007 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may be a concern for future landings.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 84°F and a gentle wind of 4 knots at 200°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions likely contributed to a relatively smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 5,953 feet was 61% of the available runway length of 9,691 feet. This indicates that the aircraft had sufficient runway remaining for a safe stop. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 15 feet from the centerline, which may require adjustments during future landings.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was found to be slightly misaligned by 30 feet from the centerline. This may be a concern for the pilots, as it could lead to issues with directional control during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a score of 92.1%. However, there are areas for improvement, particularly with regards to touchdown speed and runway alignment.
