Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,351 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,729 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 08 at the Albuquerque International Sunport in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The takeoff distance was 5,181 feet, which accounted for 41% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 143 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of the Albuquerque International Sunport, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 94°F and winds of 2 knots at 120°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile east of the airport and reached an altitude of 38,985 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,621 feet from the initial altitude of 6,364 feet. This climb took 17 minutes and covered a distance of 112 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 12 miles northwest of the Fort Sumner Municipal Airport in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. This phase lasted for 31 minutes and covered a distance of 263 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, which started 7 miles southwest of Electra, Texas. The descent from 38,943 feet to 16,884 feet took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 66 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles southwest of the Bowie Municipal Airport in Bowie, Texas. This phase lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 2 miles south of the airport. The descent from 16,211 feet to 1,753 feet took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 59 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 13L at the Dallas Love Field was made from the northwest, heading 136.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,266 feet above ground level. The landing was made on a runway with a length of 7,351 feet. The threshold height was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 132 knots.
The touchdown point was 362 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 123 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -100 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 88°F and winds of 5 knots at 160°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 4,159 feet, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 509 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 88 minutes. The aircraft used 6,686 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Dallas Love Field (KDAL) on runway 13L, achieving a score of 98.0%. The final approach was initiated from the northwest, heading 136.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,266 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being slightly above the target at 57 feet agl. The threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 132 knots. The touchdown point was located 362 feet beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal landing spot. However, the touchdown speed of 123 knots was a little fast, which may have contributed to the slightly off-center touchdown.
Despite the minor deviations, the touchdown rate was smooth at -100 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, suggesting that the pilot maintained a stable and aligned approach to the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 88°F and a gentle headwind of 5 knots at 160°.
The total landing distance of 4,159 feet was 57% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and brought it to a stop in a stable and aligned manner.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and precision during the approach and touchdown phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and centering the aircraft on the runway.
