Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 785 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 785 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 208 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Cessna C172 started with a 2-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at EHHV Hilversum Airfield. The departure roll on runway 25 covered 340 meters, which was 43% of the total runway length. The liftoff speed was 59 knots. The local weather at the time of departure was 15°C with a 1 knot wind coming from 269°, resulting in a minimal crosswind and a slight headwind.
After takeoff, the pilot made a left-hand pattern entry back to runway 25 at EHHV Hilversum Airfield, covering less than 1 nm in 14 seconds. The crosswind leg was also less than 1 nm and took 22 seconds to complete. The downwind leg of the pattern covered 2 nm in 57 seconds, with an angle to the runway of 55.5°. The base leg turn was 1 nm in distance and had an angle of 41.4° to the runway. The final turn was less than 1 nm and took 13 seconds to complete.
The final approach to runway 25 was from the east at a heading of 248.0° and an altitude of 232 feet above ground level. The landing on the 785-meter runway was slightly fast, with a touchdown speed of 58 knots and a firm touchdown rate of -347 feet per minute. The touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.3 meters from the centerline. Despite this, the total landing distance was 467 meters, which was 60% of the runway length, with a very good runway rollout alignment.
After landing, the pilot taxied back to the parking area in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 6 nm, taking 10 minutes and using 2 kg of fuel.
