Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,387 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 576 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, taking 10 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 15, with a takeoff distance of 1,766 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 163 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 139°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Hesingue, France, and reaching a maximum altitude of 35,764 feet above sea level. The climb took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 121 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 4 miles southwest of Livigno, Italy. This phase of the flight lasted 25 minutes and covered a distance of 214 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 11 miles southwest of Lošinj Airport, Croatia. The descent took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 98 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 35,503 feet to 2,731 feet above sea level.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting overhead Vinisce, Croatia, and lasting 6 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 2 miles south of Vinisce, and descending from 2,778 feet to 1,359 feet above sea level in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 05 at Split Airport was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 52.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,293 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 05, which was 2,387 meters long. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 130 knots. The touchdown point was 153 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 121 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -479 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.4 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 60°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,343 meters, which was 56% of the runway length. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 449 nautical miles, taking 82 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,252 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LDSP Split Airport, achieving a score of 89.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 52.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,293 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 130 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 153 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 121 knots, which was within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown rate was somewhat hard, at -479 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline, deviating by 10.4 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 60°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,343 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway length.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-centerline, deviating by 10.2 meters. Despite these minor deviations, the overall landing performance of the Airbus A320 was satisfactory, with the pilot demonstrating good control and adherence to standard procedures.
