Flight Score
Departure
Use smaller, smoother aileron inputs to hold the climb bank angle near wings-level.
What happened: During Climb 3 the bank angle averaged 17°, well beyond a steady wings-level climb.
Watch for: Attitude indicator - bank angle, keeping it close to wings-level through the climb.
Arrival
Add power on short final to hold 122 kt at the threshold rather than letting speed decay.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 108 kt against a target of 122 kt, below reference speed.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator, hold 122 kt down to the threshold.
See Arrival Landing
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: six checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out. These checks are the approach's score.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,848 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 42 ft short of the threshold. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from KADS Addison Airport, the aircraft began its journey on runway 16, accelerating down the 2,450-foot takeoff distance, which represented 45% of the available runway. At a liftoff speed of 138 knots, the aircraft lifted off into the local weather conditions, characterized by a temperature of 62°F and a gentle wind of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal, with a tailwind of 1 knot.
As the aircraft climbed out of Addison, it began its enroute climb, ascending from 1,378 feet above sea level to 35,011 feet, a vertical increase of 33,633 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 78 nautical miles. The climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which started 4 miles north of TT16 Cosmo Field and lasted for 65 minutes, covering 577 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 3 miles northwest of Pima, Arizona, and descending from 35,005 feet to 5,132 feet in 18 minutes, covering 113 nautical miles. The descent phase was punctuated by several level cruises, including a brief 2-minute cruise 3 miles west of 34AZ Gila River Memorial Airport Chandler, covering 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 21 at KSDL Scottsdale Airport was initiated from the northeast, with the aircraft descending from 3,835 feet to 2,205 feet in 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. Touchdown occurred before the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 102 knots and a firm touchdown rate of -382 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was excellent, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The total landing distance was 1,470 feet, representing 21% of the available runway. Following a brief taxiing period, the aircraft arrived at the parking area, having completed a total flight distance of 813 nautical miles in 113 minutes, using 362 pounds of fuel.
The final approach to runway 21 at KSDL Scottsdale Airport was executed from the north east, aligning with the heading of 224.0° at 2 nautical miles and 744 feet above ground level. The approach quality was exceptional, with a smooth and controlled descent. The aircraft touched down before the threshold, demonstrating a high degree of precision and control. The touchdown speed of 102 knots was within the acceptable range, and the firm touchdown rate of -382 feet per minute indicated a controlled and stable landing.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, with the aircraft centered on the runway centerline. This was a testament to the pilot's skill and attention to detail during the approach and landing phases. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 59°F and a light wind of 2 knots from 270°, resulting in a negligible crosswind component of 1 knot and a slight headwind of 1 knot. These conditions contributed to a stable and predictable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,470 feet was 21% of the runway length, indicating a short and controlled rollout. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft remaining centered on the runway centerline throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was highly satisfactory, with a score of 99.1% reflecting the pilot's exceptional skill and attention to detail.
