MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,524 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 87 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 02 at KPWT Bremerton National Airport, where the Kodiak 100 aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 435 meters, which accounted for 24% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 96 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at a direction of 10 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 9 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile southwest of Gorst, Washington, and ascended from an altitude of 1,437 feet above sea level to 2,585 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,148 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 1 mile east of Gorst, where the aircraft descended from 2,570 feet above sea level to 947 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,623 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 1 mile north of Maplewood, Washington, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 17 at KTIW Tacoma Narrows Airport was made from the north, heading 180 degrees at an altitude of 505 feet above ground level and a distance of 3 nautical miles from the runway. The landing on runway 17 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 85 meters, which was 32% of the runway length. The threshold speed was good at 68 knots, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 64 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -372 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.4 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at a direction of 11 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 10 knots. The total landing distance was 492 meters, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 22 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 12 minutes, during which the aircraft used 32 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft in question, a Kodiak 100, successfully landed at KTIW Tacoma Narrows Airport, achieving a score of 94.0%. The final approach to runway 17 was initiated from the north, with the aircraft heading 180.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 505 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated good threshold height and threshold speed, reaching 68 knots as it touched down on the runway. The touchdown distance was also satisfactory, measuring 85 meters. However, the touchdown speed of 64 knots was slightly faster than ideal, which may have contributed to a firm touchdown rate of -372 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline, deviating by 5.4 meters. This may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing included a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots from 11°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the tailwind component was 10 knots.
The total landing distance of 492 meters accounted for approximately 32% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent after touchdown. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and touchdown phases.
