Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,795 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 418 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Overall, the flight in the Boeing 737-800 from LPMA Madeira to EDDF Frankfurt/Main was smooth and efficient. The taxi from the parking to the runway at Madeira took only 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm. The departure from runway 05 involved a takeoff distance of 1,532 m, with a liftoff speed of 158 kn. The local weather at departure included a temperature of 21 °C, with a 6 kn wind at 354°, resulting in a 5 kn crosswind and 4 kn headwind.
The enroute climb started over Machico in Madeira, climbing from 1,034 ft asl to 35,300 ft asl in 26 minutes, covering 180 nm. The level cruise phase lasted 707 minutes and covered 1,313 nm. The descent began 2 miles west of Dusslingen in Baden-Wuerttemberg, decreasing from 34,502 ft asl to 9,767 ft asl in 11 minutes, covering 81 nm.
After a brief 13-minute level cruise over Monchberg in Bavaria, the descent resumed 3 miles south of Eppstein in Hessen, descending from 6,865 ft asl to 5,216 ft asl in 4 minutes, covering 17 nm. Another brief 2-minute level cruise took place 1 mile south west of Gau-Algesheim in Rheinland-Pfalz before a 3-minute descent from 4,609 ft asl to 2,089 ft asl over Ober-Olm, covering 7 nm.
There was a go-around at EDDF Frankfurt/Main on runway 07L at 813 ft agl, followed by a successful landing on the same runway. The landing occurred at a speed of 167 kn and a touchdown distance of 422 m from the threshold. The weather at landing included a temperature of 14 ° C, with a 4 kn wind at 60 ° resulting in a 1 kn crosswind and 4 kn headwind.
The total landing distance was 1,297 m, 46% of the runway. After landing, taxiing to the parking from the runway took 8 minutes, covering 2 nm. The total flight distance covered was 1,657 nm in a duration of 963 minutes, using 10,803 kg of fuel.
First, let's focus on the Approach Phase. The descent path being above the glideslope limit is a minor issue that can easily be corrected with better instrument monitoring and adjustments. Additionally, having the speed well above target during this phase can be improved with more careful throttle control and attention to airspeed indicators. Overall, these are areas that can be fine-tuned with a bit more focus and practice.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it's great to see that the threshold height and landing flare were both executed perfectly. This indicates a high level of skill and precision in handling the aircraft during the crucial moments before touchdown. However, the speed being above target is something that should be addressed to ensure a smoother and more controlled landing. This can again be improved through better throttle control and adherence to recommended speeds during landing.
Next, let's discuss the Touchdown Phase. It's fantastic to see that the touchdown rate was good and that the touchdown distance was within the designated zone on the runway. This shows a good sense of timing and judgment in bringing the aircraft safely to the ground. The only area for improvement here is the speed being above target, which can be addressed with more consistent speed control throughout the landing process.
Lastly, in the Rollout Phase, having a very good runway alignment indicates a strong ability to maintain control and stay on course during the post-touchdown phase. This is a crucial aspect of a successful landing, as it ensures a smooth exit from the runway and taxiing to the designated parking area.
Overall, while there are areas that can be improved upon, such as speed control and descent path management, this landing score of 96.7% is a testament to the pilot's skill and ability to perform a safe and controlled landing. With continued practice and focus on these specific areas, the pilot can further enhance their landing techniques and strive for even higher scores in the future. Great job on a solid landing performance!
