Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,123 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 198 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A330-900 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at SBKP Viracopos International Airport in Brazil. This process took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 15, with a takeoff distance of 1,780 meters, which was 57% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 165 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 31°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 214 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the headwind was 0 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile south east of the airport and continued for 26 minutes, covering a distance of 164 nautical miles. The aircraft climbed from an initial altitude of 3,141 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 37,777 feet.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 486 minutes and covered a distance of 4,012 nautical miles. This phase started 5 miles north east of SSOL Padre Israel Airport in Lavras, Brazil. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 67 miles west of Sagres, Portugal. The descent from 36,601 feet to 14,131 feet took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 63 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 44 nautical miles. This phase started 30 miles south west of Sesimbra, Portugal. The aircraft then began its descent again, starting overhead Alvalade, Portugal. The descent from 13,817 feet to 3,921 feet took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 9 minutes and covered a distance of 14 nautical miles. This phase started overhead Alcochete, Portugal. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 1 mile west of Charneca de Caparica, Portugal. The descent from 3,456 feet to 1,624 feet took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 02 at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, Portugal, was made from the south, with a heading of 23.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,271 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 02, which had a length of 3,123 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 130 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 200 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 129 knots. The touchdown rate was hard at -435 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.1 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 12°C temperature and a wind speed of 14 knots at 310 degrees. The crosswind was 13 knots, and the headwind was 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 865 meters, which was 28% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centreline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 4,321 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 557 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 49,203 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A330-900 successfully landed at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Portela Airport) with a score of 93.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 23.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,271 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 02, which has a length of 3,123 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 130 knots was also within the acceptable range, suggesting that the pilots maintained a steady and controlled approach. However, the touchdown speed of 129 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown rate.
The touchdown rate of -435 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, indicating that the aircraft touched down with a significant amount of force. This may have been due to the slightly fast touchdown speed. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.1 meters from the centerline, which may have affected the aircraft's rollout.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C, with a wind speed of 14 knots at 310°. The crosswind component was 13 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. The total landing distance was 865 meters, which is approximately 28% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centerline.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some areas for improvement, including the slightly fast touchdown speed and the hard touchdown rate. However, the pilots maintained a good threshold height and threshold speed, and the aircraft landed within the acceptable distance.
