MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,701 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 670 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Embraer E190 took off from runway 31L at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (LHBP), after a 27-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The departure roll was completed with a takeoff distance of 1,205 meters, which accounted for 40% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off with a speed of 144 knots.
As it departed Budapest, the local weather conditions were calm, with a temperature of 18 Celsius and minimal wind, at 6 knots from a direction of 79 degrees. This resulted in a slight tailwind of 4 knots and a minor crosswind of 5 knots. With a safe takeoff, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting approximately 1 mile west of LHBP, reaching a maximum altitude of 16,359 feet above sea level.
Enroute, the aircraft experienced a series of climbs and descents, with brief level cruising intervals. During the climb from 1,489 feet to 16,550 feet, a gain of 14,871 feet was achieved in just 6 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nautical miles. The initial level cruise phase lasted 2 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles, before another descent phase lowered the plane from 16,550 feet to 8,044 feet in 6 minutes, covering 22 nautical miles.
Additional enroute descents and climbs, followed by short level cruising intervals, occurred in the vicinity of Oroszlany, Pannonhalma, and Per. During the final descent from 7,533 feet to 2,958 feet, a decrease of 4,576 feet was achieved in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 22 nautical miles.
After this significant descent, the aircraft leveled out in a long cruise phase, starting 1 mile south of Csakvar, which lasted for 12 minutes, covering 37 nautical miles. The Embraer E190 prepared for its landing on runway 31R at LHBP, with a final approach initiated from the south-east, heading 314.0 degrees, and maintaining an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,742 feet above ground.
However, the pilots decided to execute a go-around at an altitude of 871 feet, rather than continuing with the original landing. Following the go-around, the plane landed safely on runway 31R, which had an original threshold height of 61 feet above ground, exceeding the target elevation. Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was higher than desired, at 148 knots, and the touchdown point was 259 meters beyond the touchdown zone.
The aircraft was also slightly misaligned from the runway's centerline during both landing and rollout phases. With local wind conditions at 8 knots from a direction of 351 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 6 knots, the touchdown speed of 139 knots and the rate of -172 feet per minute were deemed satisfactory. The total landing distance, accounting for 56% of the runway length, was 2,082 meters. Overall, the aircraft completed the flight, with a total distance of 147 nautical miles, requiring 64 minutes and consuming 2,340 kilograms of fuel.
Aircraft Embraer E190 landed at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (LHBP) with a score of 85.9%. The approach was made from the southeast, following an initial heading of 314.0° at an altitude of 1,742 feet above ground level (agl) and at a distance of 4 nautical miles from the airport.
The landing took place on runway 31R, which has a total length of 3,701 meters. However, there were a couple of discrepancies noted during the landing. Firstly, the threshold height at 61 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft approached the runway at a higher than desired altitude. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 148 knots, suggesting that the aircraft was traveling at a higher speed than necessary at the point of passing the runway threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 259 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. The touchdown speed of 139 knots was also observed to be faster than the desired speed, although the rate of descent during touchdown was good at -172 feet per minute (fpm). Furthermore, there was a small deviation from centerline, with the runway touchdown position being misaligned by 11.9 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing included a temperature of 15°C, with a wind blowing at 8 knots from a direction of 351°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The total landing distance of 2,082 meters was approximately 56% of the available runway length.
The rollout phase following the landing also revealed some issues. The aircraft was found to be slightly misaligned from the centerline, with the runway rollout alignment deviating by 11.9 meters from the desired path. Overall, while the landing was not completely satisfactory, with some deviations from the norm, the score of 85.9% suggests that it was still a successful and safe operation.
