Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.

Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,524 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 719 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight of DG1001E began with a departure roll from runway 11 at Dunakeszi Airfield, a small airfield located in LHDK. The aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 76 meters, which accounted for only 9% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 46 knots, indicating a smooth and controlled takeoff.
As the aircraft climbed into the air, it encountered local weather conditions of 23 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind of 7 knots at 203 degrees. The crosswind was also 7 knots, while the headwind was minimal at 1 knot. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile southwest of Fot, a nearby location in Pest megye, Hungary. The aircraft climbed from an initial altitude of 844 feet above sea level to 701 feet, an increase of 143 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
As the aircraft approached Dunakeszi Airfield for landing, it began its final approach from 1 nautical mile away, descending to an altitude of 290 feet above ground level. The descent was smooth, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 50 feet to 0 feet in just 27 seconds. The touchdown speed was 42 knots, which was considered good, and the touchdown rate was also good at -151 feet per minute.
The touchdown point was 272 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight overrun. However, the landing rollout was short, covering a distance of just 16 meters. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, taking less than 1 minute to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight of DG1001E covered a distance of 3 nautical miles, taking approximately 3 minutes to complete. Notably, the aircraft used no fuel during the flight, indicating a highly efficient and controlled operation.
The aircraft, DG1001E, successfully landed at Dunakeszi Airfield with a score of 67.0%. The final approach was conducted from 1 nautical mile to 1 nautical mile at an altitude of 290 feet above ground level (agl). As the aircraft approached the touchdown point, it began its descent from 50 feet agl to 0 feet agl, a decrease of 50 feet in 27 seconds. This indicates a relatively smooth and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 42 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate, measured in feet per minute (fpm), was also good at -151 fpm. This suggests that the aircraft touched down smoothly and did not experience any significant deceleration or bounce. However, the touchdown point was 272 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing path.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots at 203 degrees. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing, but it appears that the pilot was able to compensate for them effectively.
During the landing rollout, the aircraft's altitude was 396 feet above sea level (asl), and it traveled a distance of 16 meters. This suggests that the aircraft was able to come to a stop relatively quickly and smoothly after touchdown. Overall, the landing was considered successful, despite the slight deviation from the intended touchdown zone.
