Arrival
On downwind, use small aileron and rudder corrections to hold the wings-parallel heading against the runway.
What happened: On the downwind leg the heading drifted 7.5° off the runway-parallel track.
Watch for: Heading indicator: parallel to the runway on downwind.

Spacing cues are relative to your eyepoint, so two simmers with different FOV settings following the same wingtip cue fly patterns half a mile different in width, and a wide FOV compresses depth so the runway on base looks further away than it is, biasing you towards a late turn. Pick a camera position and FOV, save it, and never change it, because every judgement you calibrate is calibrated to that picture.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,490 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 370 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Diamond DA40 taxied to runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde and commenced its departure roll. The aircraft lifted off after a take-off run of 462 m, representing 19 % of the available runway, at a liftoff speed of 71 kt. Ambient conditions were 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a cross-wind component of 1 kt and a head-wind component of 2 kt.
During the approach the pilot entered a left-hand pattern on runway 23. The entry leg covered less than 1 nm in 19 seconds, followed by a left-hand cross-wind leg of less than 1 nm in 25 seconds. The downwind segment was less than 1 nm and lasted 16 seconds, after which the base-leg turn spanned 1 nm with a 45-degree turn angle measured at 34.1 °.
Landing was executed on runway 23, whose total length is 2 490 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 75 kt and the aircraft touched down 368 m from the threshold at 54 kt. The touchdown rate was minus 92 fpm and runway alignment was perfect. Weather at the time remained 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 269°, a cross-wind of 1 kt and a head-wind of 2 kt.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 517 m, equivalent to 21 % of the runway, and the aircraft maintained perfect alignment throughout the deceleration phase.
In total the flight covered 3 nm, taking 3 (units as given) and consumed 1 kg of fuel.
The aircraft touched down on runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 75 kt, both recorded as good.
Touchdown occurred 368 m down the runway at a speed of 54 kt, both judged good, with a vertical rate of -92 fpm rated excellent and runway touchdown alignment described as perfect.
The total landing distance measured 517 m, representing 21 % of the 2,490 m runway, and rollout alignment was perfect.
With a landing score of 98.7 %, performance was outstanding; concentrating on maintaining the current flare technique will preserve the excellent vertical rate while a slight reduction in touchdown distance could add additional safety margin.
