Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,291 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,781 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 17R at Sacramento International Airport (KSMF). The takeoff distance was 3,132 feet, which accounted for 36% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 70°F and a wind speed of 18 knots from a direction of 179°. This resulted in a headwind of 18 knots and no crosswind. As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of KSMF. The climb took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 9 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,039 feet above sea level to 3,923 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted 3 minutes and covered 11 nautical miles. This phase began 4 miles southwest of West Sacramento. The aircraft then began another climb, this time from 3,935 feet to 4,908 feet, over a distance of 6 nautical miles and in a time of 2 minutes. This climb started 5 miles west of Courtland.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted 9 minutes and covered 31 nautical miles. This phase began 5 miles northwest of Rio Vista Municipal Airport. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 1 mile north of Piedmont. The descent took 4 minutes and covered 11 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 4,766 feet to 1,308 feet.
The final approach to runway 19L at San Francisco International Airport (KSFO) was made from the northeast, with a heading of 208.0° and at an altitude of 1,289 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, which had a length of 8,291 feet. The threshold height at 58 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 140 knots.
The touchdown point was 385 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 133 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was also good at -192 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 56°F and a wind speed of 25 knots from a direction of 160°, resulting in a crosswind of 19 knots and a headwind of 17 knots.
The total landing distance was 4,275 feet, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 76 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 32 minutes. The aircraft used 2,698 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at San Francisco International Airport (KSFO) on runway 19L. The final approach was initiated from the northeast, heading 208.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,289 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a steady course throughout the approach, with a good threshold speed of 140 knots.
Upon reaching the runway threshold, the aircraft was slightly above the target height of 58 feet agl. However, this minor deviation did not affect the overall landing performance. The touchdown point was 385 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively safe distance considering the runway length of 8,291 feet. The touchdown speed of 133 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -192 feet per minute (fpm) was also good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 56°F and a wind speed of 25 knots from a direction of 160°. This resulted in a crosswind of 19 knots and a headwind of 17 knots. Despite these challenging conditions, the aircraft maintained a very good runway touchdown alignment, indicating a high degree of control and precision during the landing.
The total landing distance of 4,275 feet was 52% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, allowing for a safe and controlled deceleration.
Overall, the landing of the Boeing 737-800 at KSFO was a successful one, with a high score of 98.3%. The aircraft's performance was impressive, considering the challenging weather conditions and the relatively short landing distance. The pilots' skills and experience were evident in their ability to maintain control and precision throughout the approach and landing phases.
