MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,113 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 636 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Beechcraft Duke taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 25 at the SKTQ Captain Ernesto Esguerra Cubides Air Base. The takeoff distance was 309 meters, which accounted for 16% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 75 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 255 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb, starting overhead the SKTQ Captain Ernesto Esguerra Cubides Air Base Tres Esquinas. The climb took 19 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,065 feet above sea level to 27,201 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,135 feet. The enroute climb covered a distance of 60 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 16 miles east of Puerto Asis. This phase lasted for 9 minutes and covered a distance of 42 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 4 miles south of La Dorada. The descent took 18 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 27,185 feet above sea level to 14,096 feet above sea level, a decrease of 13,089 feet. The enroute descent covered a distance of 77 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 9 miles south of Cayambe. This phase lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 5 miles south east of SEQM Mariscal Sucre International Airport Quito. The descent took 3 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 14,079 feet above sea level to 8,611 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,468 feet. The final descent covered a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 36 at SEQM Mariscal Sucre International Airport, approaching from the south at a heading of 355.0 degrees. The aircraft was at an altitude of 791 feet above ground level and 1 nautical mile from the runway threshold.
The aircraft landed on runway 36 at SEQM Mariscal Sucre International Airport, which had a length of 4,113 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed at 83 knots. The touchdown point was 208 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 69 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was firm at -321 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.2 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 883 meters, which accounted for 21% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took approximately 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 198 nautical miles, and the flight took 64 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 188 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Beechcraft Duke aircraft successfully landed at SEQM Mariscal Sucre International Airport, achieving a score of 92.3%. The final approach to runway 36 was conducted from the south, heading 355.0° at 1 nautical mile and 791 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was well-executed, with a good threshold height and a touchdown speed of 69 kt, which was within the acceptable range.
However, there were a few minor issues during the landing. The threshold speed was slightly below the target at 83 kt, indicating a slight delay in the aircraft's descent. Additionally, the touchdown point was 208 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight over-shooting of the target. The touchdown rate was firm at -321 fpm, which is within the acceptable range.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.2 meters from the centerline, which may require some adjustments during future landings. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 23°C and a wind speed of 7 kt at 126°. The crosswind was 5 kt, and the tailwind was 4 kt, which did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance was 883 meters, which is 21% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the landing. The runway rollout alignment was very good, showing that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and decision-making skills. However, there are some minor areas for improvement, such as adjusting the threshold speed and touchdown point to better align with the target.
