Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,804 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 147 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 28 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, a CRJ900, then departed from runway 14 at UHMI Mys Shmidta Airport, a remote airport located in the Chukotskiy Avtonomnyy Okrug region of Russia. The takeoff distance was 1,392 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 162 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 9°C, a wind speed of 7 knots at 112°, with a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead UHMI Mys Shmidta Airport. The climb took 13 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,013 feet above sea level to 26,353 feet above sea level, an increase of 25,340 feet. The enroute climb covered a distance of 67 nautical miles. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted 14 minutes and covered a distance of 88 nautical miles.
The enroute cruise phase was followed by a series of descents and level cruises as the aircraft navigated through the Chukotskiy Avtonomnyy Okrug region. The first descent started 56 miles east of Egvekinot, and the aircraft descended from 26,365 feet above sea level to 25,267 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,098 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted 11 minutes and covered a distance of 50 nautical miles.
The next descent started 87 miles northwest of Provideniya, and the aircraft descended from 24,167 feet above sea level to 5,129 feet above sea level, a decrease of 19,038 feet, in 16 minutes and covering 79 nautical miles. Following this descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which lasted 2 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final descent started 6 miles west of UHMD Provideniya Bay Airport, and the aircraft descended from 4,642 feet above sea level to 2,766 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,876 feet, in 3 minutes and covering 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted 2 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The final descent started 8 miles south of UHMD Provideniya Bay Airport, and the aircraft descended from 2,703 feet above sea level to 954 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,749 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 02 at UHMD Provideniya Bay Airport, which was located 4 nautical miles away and at an altitude of 905 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 02 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 145 meters and a touchdown speed of 113 knots. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -434 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 19.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C, a wind speed of 3 knots at 43°, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than
The CRJ900 aircraft successfully landed at UHMD Provideniya Bay Airport, achieving an overall score of 88.0%. The final approach was conducted from the south, heading 32.0° at 4 nautical miles and 905 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 02, which has a length of 1,804 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 119 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 145 meters was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 113 knots was also within acceptable limits. Unfortunately, the touchdown rate was hard at -434 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a potentially rough landing.
The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 19.7 meters from the centerline, which could have contributed to the hard touchdown rate. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 12°C, a wind speed of 3 knots at 43°, and a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,104 meters was 61% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 19.2 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft may have deviated from the intended path during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the CRJ900 aircraft achieved a good score, there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown rate and runway alignment.
