Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,141 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,141 m of the 3,670 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 616 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 20R at KSNA John Wayne Orange County International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,016 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 146 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 18°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 210°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead KSNA John Wayne Orange County International Airport. The climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 108 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,116 feet above sea level to 37,147 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,031 feet. The enroute climb was followed by a level cruise, which started 2 miles northwest of 73CL Julian Hinds Pump Plant Airstrip Hayfield and lasted for 25 minutes, covering a distance of 525 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 18 miles east of Gunnison, Colorado, and took 11 minutes to descend from 36,960 feet above sea level to 8,025 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,935 feet. The descent covered a distance of 129 nautical miles. Following the descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise, which started 2 miles south of 1CD2 Tonga Airport Platteville and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 16L at KDEN Denver International Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 181.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,308 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 16L, which had a length of 3,670 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 138 knots. The touchdown point was 205 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 130 knots. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -128 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 8°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at 110°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 1 knot. The total landing distance was 2,065 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 782 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 60 minutes. The aircraft used 4,586 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Denver International Airport (KDEN) on runway 16L, achieving a score of 97.2%. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 181.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,308 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating a stable and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 137 knots, registering at 138 knots. However, the touchdown point was located 205 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, but the touchdown rate of -128 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled and stable landing.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and precision in aligning the aircraft with the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 8°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 110°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot, which did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 2,065 meters was 56% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and stability during the post-landing phase. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down smoothly and coming to a stop in a controlled manner.
