MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,647 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,647 m of the 3,885 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 700 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Boeing 737-800 began with a quick taxi from the parking area to the runway at NZMO Manapouri Airport, taking only 1 minute to cover less than 1 nm. The departure roll took place on runway 08, with a takeoff distance of 825 meters, representing 52% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 143 knots. The local weather at the time of departure indicated a temperature of 11°C with a light 1 knot wind coming from 346°.
Once airborne, the enroute climb began 1 mile east of NZMO Manapouri Airport. The aircraft climbed from 1,755 ft asl to 40,070 ft asl, an increase of 38,315 ft over 32 minutes, covering a distance of 211 nm. After reaching cruising altitude, the aircraft maintained level cruise for 97 minutes, covering 692 nm from a specific latitude and longitude position.
The descent phase of the flight started 87 miles southeast of FC03 Sydney Static Carrier - CVN78 in the State of New South Wales, Australia. The descent took the aircraft from 39,918 ft asl to 3,187 ft asl, a total decrease of 36,731 ft over 11 minutes and a distance of 102 nm. The brief enroute level cruise that followed lasted 3 minutes and covered 11 nm, starting 10 miles southeast of Bundeena in the same state.
The flight concluded with a landing on runway 34L at YSSY Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport. The runway had a length of 3,885 meters, with the aircraft touching down 696 meters from the threshold at a speed of 121 knots. The vertical speed at touchdown was -191 ft/min. The local weather upon landing showed a temperature of 25°C with a 9 knot wind coming from 30°, resulting in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The total landing distance was 1,553 meters, representing 40% of the runway length.
Finally, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in just 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance from start to finish was 1,022 nm, taking a total of 152 minutes and consuming 6,671 kg of fuel.
