MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 305 m and 152 m above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,933 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 164 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa. This process took approximately 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 03L, with a takeoff distance of 1,991 meters, which is 50% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Johannesburg, it began its enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 2,430 meters above sea level (asl) after an increase of 462 meters in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The climb continued, with the aircraft reaching a cruising altitude of 11,580 meters asl after a further increase of 9,143.3 meters in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 106 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise, lasting 31 minutes and covering a distance of 218 nautical miles, before beginning its descent towards its destination. The descent started 6 miles south-west of Ugie Airport in the Eastern Cape, with the aircraft descending from 11,585 meters asl to 1,539 meters asl in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 111 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 2 minutes and covering a distance of 7 nautical miles, before beginning its final descent. The descent started 15 miles south of Bisho Airport, with the aircraft descending from 1,521 meters asl to 904 meters asl in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 3 minutes and covering a distance of 11 nautical miles, before beginning its final approach to runway 11 at Ben Schoeman Airport in East London. The final approach was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 82 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 387 meters above ground level (agl).
The aircraft landed on runway 11, with a touchdown distance of 165 meters and a touchdown speed of 126 knots, which was slightly fast. The touchdown rate was very hard at -2.9 meters per second, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centreline. The local weather at the time of landing was 24 degrees Celsius.
The total landing distance was 1,098 meters, which is 57% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area in just 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 481 nautical miles, taking 89 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,372 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at FAEL Ben Schoeman Airport, achieving a score of 94.5%. The final approach to runway 11 was initiated from the west, with a heading of 82.0° at an altitude of 387.0 meters above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 127 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed of 126 knots was slightly faster than ideal, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal landing speed. The touchdown distance of 165 meters was also considered good, but the touchdown rate of -2.9 meters per second was very hard, suggesting a potentially rough landing experience for passengers.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.9 meters, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C.
The total landing distance of 1,098 meters was 57% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and brought it to a stop safely.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and the pilot maintaining control throughout the rollout phase. However, there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters, including a slightly fast touchdown speed and a hard touchdown rate.
