Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,547 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,547 m of the 2,436 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 278 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a CRJ900, then departed from runway 12 at the Western Neb. Rgnl/William B. Heilig Airport, located at KBFF. The takeoff distance was 1,773 meters, which accounted for 71% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 158 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 110 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile south east of the airport, rising from an altitude of 4,911 feet above sea level to 17,394 feet above sea level, an increase of 12,483 feet in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 32 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles north west of the NE19 Ag Air Airport, located at Broadwater. This phase lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 49 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 6 miles west of the 42NE Packard Ranch Airport, located at Arthur, and lasted for 11 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 17,403 feet above sea level to 3,871 feet above sea level, a decrease of 13,532 feet. The descent covered a distance of 51 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 12 at the KLBF North Platte Regional Airport Lee Bird Field was made from the north west, with a heading of 126.0 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,082 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 12 was successful, with a threshold height that was considered good. The threshold speed was also good at 146 knots, and the touchdown distance was 280 meters, which was within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 139 knots was slightly fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -432 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at a direction of 150 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The total landing distance was 1,462 meters, which accounted for 60% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.9 meters from the centerline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 141 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 37 minutes. The aircraft used 1,915 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The CRJ900 aircraft successfully landed at KLBF North Platte Regional Airport Lee Bird Field, achieving a score of 95.8%. The final approach was conducted from the northwest, heading 126.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,082 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 12, which has a length of 2,436 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed of 146 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown distance of 280 meters was good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 139 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown rate of -432 feet per minute (fpm).
Despite the slightly fast touchdown speed, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 18°C and a gentle headwind of 6 knots at 150°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 3 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,462 meters was 60% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.9 meters from the centerline, which may indicate a slight deviation in the aircraft's direction during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft's performance was satisfactory. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and rollout alignment.
