Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,295 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 342 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight took place on a Edgley Optica aircraft departing from runway 10 at TFFJ Saint Barthélemy - Rémy de Haenen Airport. The conditions for takeoff were favorable, with a temperature of 20 °C and wind velocity of 3 kt at 231 °. This resulted in a slight wind assistance, allowing the aircraft to take off quickly. The takeoff distance was only 51 meters, indicating a relatively short distance required for the aircraft to lift off.
The aircraft took off at a speed of 52 kt, which is consistent with the aerodynamic characteristics of the Edgley Optica. As the aircraft gained altitude, it encountered minor turbulence, but managed to maintain a steady ascent. The enroute climb phase saw the aircraft lifting from 97 ft asl to 648 ft asl in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nm.
The enroute level cruise phase started 1 mile north west of the departure airport and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 6 nm. This phase allowed the aircraft to stabilize at a consistent altitude and cruise speed. The descent phase initiated 7 miles north west of the destination airport, TNCM Princess Juliana International Airport, and lasted for 2 minutes. During this phase, the aircraft lost 534 ft of altitude, covering a distance of 5 nm.
Following the descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, this time starting 4 miles south east of Marigot and lasting for 5 minutes. This phase saw the aircraft maintain a stable altitude and speed, covering a distance of 5 nm. With the final approach phase initiated from the west, the aircraft flew in a heading of 82.0 ° at 0 nm and 86 ft agl. As the aircraft approached the runway, it encountered a light crosswind, which it handled smoothly.
The landing on runway 10 at TNCM Princess Juliana International Airport was successful, with the aircraft touching down at 40 kt and experiencing an excellent touchdown rate of -94 fpm. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits, at 340 m. However, there was a slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position by 3.7 m from the centreline. Despite these minor deviations, the overall performance of the aircraft was satisfactory, with a total landing distance of 510 m and a runway rollout alignment that was very good.
The total flight distance was 18 nm, taking a duration of 10 minutes and consuming -4 kg of fuel. On the whole, the flight highlighted the capabilities of the Edgley Optica aircraft in terms of its agility, stability, and performance, even under challenging weather conditions.
The landing of the Edgley Optica aircraft at Princess Juliana International Airport, located on the island of St. Maarten, was successfully completed with a high score of 98.8%. The aircraft, approaching the runway from the west, headed directly to runway 10, a 2,295-meter long runway. The pilot was able to maintain a good altitude of 86 feet above ground level (agl) at 0 nautical miles from the runway, indicating precise control over the aircraft.
Upon reaching the final approach phase, the pilot demonstrated a high level of proficiency. The aircraft's threshold speed, which was well above the target speed of 53 kt, was recorded at 55 kt. This indicates a high level of control and confidence as the pilot brings the aircraft to a stable configuration for landing. Additionally, the touchdown distance of 340 meters was good, as it is below the average for runway 10. This highlights the pilot's ability to maintain speed and control while maneuvering the aircraft in close proximity to the runway.
At touchdown, the aircraft was traveling at a speed of 40 kt, which is within the standard range for a safe landing. The touchdown rate of -94 feet per minute (fpm) is considered an excellent result, as it signifies smooth touchdown and minimal impact on the aircraft's occupants and the landing gear.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft touching down approximately 3.7 meters off-centerline. While not a significant issue, this deviation may be worth addressing in training to reinforce the importance of accurate touchdown positioning.
Local weather conditions were mild, with a temperature of 20°C and a gentle wind of 3 kt from a northeasterly direction, with a 2 kt tailwind component and minimal crosswind impact.
The total landing distance of 510 meters accounts for only 22% of the runway length, demonstrating the pilot's skill in bringing the aircraft to a complete stop quickly and efficiently. During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was very good, underscoring the pilot's high level of control and awareness of the runway environment.
In conclusion, the landing of the Edgley Optica aircraft at Princess Juliana International Airport was executed successfully, with the pilot demonstrating excellent control and skills that resulted in a high score of 98.8%. This performance is a testament to the pilot's training and experience, as well as the aircraft's capabilities.
