MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,372 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,372 m of the 3,988 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,102 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 executed a final approach to runway 06R at EDDB Berlin Brandenburg Airport from the south-west, maintaining a heading of 68.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,092 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
During the threshold and flare phase the threshold height of 70 ft agl was above target, while the threshold speed was good at 149 kt.
Touchdown occurred 698 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 146 kt, noted as a little fast, and a firm touchdown rate of minus 324 fpm; runway touchdown alignment was very good.
Rollout used a total landing distance of 2,303 m, representing 58 % of the 3,990 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
To improve the score, aim to achieve touchdown within the designated zone and moderate the touchdown speed toward the target VREF, which will also help reduce the firm rate observed.
