MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Keep the approach speed on target
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 305 m and 152 m above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,297 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 252 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an RJ100, then departed from runway 18 at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), with a takeoff distance of 1,857 meters, which was 47% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 153 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 14°C and winds of 6 knots at 30°. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the tailwind was 5 knots. After departing from Frankfurt, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 2 miles west of Moerfelden-Walldorf in Hessen, Germany. The climb took 15 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 414 meters above sea level to 9,404 meters above sea level, covering a distance of 71 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting overhead Ilshofen in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. This phase lasted for 36 minutes and covered a distance of 180 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 4 miles southeast of Grossarl in Salzburg, Austria. The descent took 23 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 9,384 meters above sea level to 789 meters above sea level, covering a distance of 79 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 30 at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJLJ) was made from the southeast, with a heading of 306.0° at 4 nautical miles and 410.3 meters above ground level. The landing was made on runway 30, which had a length of 3,297 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was too high at 136 knots. The touchdown point was 83 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was too fast at 134 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -1.8 meters per second, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.0 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 10°C and winds of 1 knot at 87°. The crosswind was 0 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,298 meters, which was 39% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 338 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 69 minutes. The aircraft used 2,228 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The RJ100 aircraft successfully landed at LJLJ Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, achieving a score of 92.5%. The final approach was conducted from the south east, heading 306.0° at an altitude of 410.3 meters above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft touched down on runway 30, which has a length of 3,297 meters.
Upon landing, the threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was too high at 136 knots. This indicates that the aircraft may have been slightly above the recommended speed for landing. The touchdown point was 83 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was also too fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -1.8 meters per second, suggesting a controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 10°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 87°. The crosswind component was negligible, and the tailwind component was minimal at 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,298 meters, which is 39% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain its alignment and direction during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor issues with the threshold speed and touchdown speed. The slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position and the short landing distance were also notable. However, the aircraft was able to maintain a firm touchdown rate and good runway rollout alignment, indicating a high level of control and precision during the landing.
