Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final to bleed back to 122 kt well before the gate.
What happened: Approach was fast through the stabilisation gate, and the threshold was crossed at 136 kt against the 122 kt target. Carrying that extra speed in usually carries the touchdown long, which it did here at 773 m against the 457 m target.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator: 122 kt at the threshold
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The approach before the go-around was abandoned. Its marks are shown, but only the approach that landed counts.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 500 ft gate: speed 21 kt FAST on the reference speed of 122 kt.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,671 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 773 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A350-900 performed its departure roll on runway 23L at NZAA Auckland International Airport, achieving a takeoff distance of 1,007 m (27 % of the runway) with a rotation speed of 152 kt. Local conditions were 14 °C with a wind of 17 kt from 180°, a 16 kt cross-wind component and a 6 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced overhead the airport, rising from 1,008 ft asl to 1,837 ft asl - an increase of 829 ft - in less than one minute while covering less than one nautical mile.
Cruise began one mile southwest of the field and continued for five minutes, during which the aircraft covered 16 nm.
During final approach to runway 23L, the aircraft descended from 1,267 ft agl to 38 ft agl in 102 seconds and was recorded as having scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing was executed on runway 23L, which is 3,671 m long and featured a good threshold height. The threshold speed was 136 kt, above the target. Touchdown occurred 347 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 123 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 192 fpm. The touchdown point was offset 9.4 m from the centreline. Weather at the time was 13 °C with a wind of 17 kt from 199°, a 13 kt cross-wind and an 11 kt head-wind component.
Rollout distance measured 1,099 m, representing 30 % of the runway, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly off centreline by 9.0 m.
The aircraft taxied to the parking area in 17 minutes, covering less than one nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered 23 nm, lasted 26 minutes and consumed 1,860 kg of fuel.
