MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,369 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 551 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Beechcraft Duke taxiing from the parking area to the runway at SAVT Almirante Marco Andres Zar Airport, taking approximately 3 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 25, with a takeoff distance of 375 meters, which is 15% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 104 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 7°C temperature and a 5-knot headwind at 249 degrees. The enroute climb started 1 mile north of Trelew, Chubut Province, Argentina, and reached an altitude of 25,743 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,591 feet in 17 minutes, covering 34 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 5 miles north of SAVY El Tehuelche Airport Puerto Madryn, Chubut Province, Argentina, and lasted for 75 minutes, covering 284 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent 9 miles south of Coronel Dorrego, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and descended from 25,913 feet to 20,936 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,977 feet in 3 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 1 mile south of SADV Coronel Dorrego Airport Coronel Dorrego, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and lasted for 9 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its descent again, this time from 20,581 feet to 18,697 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,884 feet in 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started once more, this time 4 miles east of Coronel Dorrego, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent for the third time, from 18,709 feet to 2,922 feet above sea level, a decrease of 15,788 feet in 13 minutes, covering 31 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed for the final time, starting 14 miles north east of SA27 Puerto Rosales Airport Puerto Rosales, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent once more, from 2,909 feet to 1,121 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,788 feet in 3 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 35R at SAZB Comandante Espora Airport took place from the south, with a heading of 1.0 degrees at 2 nautical miles and 607 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 35R was successful, with a touchdown point 118 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 80 knots, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -134 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 11°C temperature and a 6-knot headwind at 300 degrees. The total landing distance was 891 meters, which is 38% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centerline.
The taxiing from the runway to the parking area took approximately 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 394 nautical miles, taking 132 minutes, and the aircraft used 399 kilograms of fuel.
The Beechcraft Duke aircraft successfully landed at SAZB Comandante Espora Airport, achieving a score of 96.2%. The final approach to runway 35R was conducted from the south, with a heading of 1.0° at 2 nautical miles and 607 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 98 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 118 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly beyond the ideal spot. However, the touchdown speed of 80 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -134 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained a stable approach and aligned the aircraft with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 11°C and a gentle wind of 8 knots from 300°. The crosswind and headwind components were both 6 knots, which is relatively minimal and should not have significantly impacted the landing. The total landing distance of 891 meters was 38% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
Although the landing was generally successful, there was a slight misalignment of the runway rollout alignment by 8.6 meters from the centerline. This suggests that the pilot may have experienced some difficulty in maintaining a straight course during the rollout phase, possibly due to the aircraft's speed or the pilot's control inputs. Nevertheless, the overall performance of the Beechcraft Duke aircraft was impressive, and the pilot's skills were evident in the smooth and controlled nature of the landing.
