Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 152 m above the runway. The 305 m gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,626 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,626 m of the 2,735 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 634 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at MKJP Norman Manley International Airport. This process took approximately 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 12, and the takeoff distance was 94 meters, which is just 3% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 153 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of MKJP Norman Manley International Airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile south east of the airport. The climb took place from an altitude of 281 meters above sea level to 10,485 meters above sea level, an increase of 10,203.9 meters. This climb took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 109 nautical miles. The local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 40 miles south west of Tiburon, Haiti. This phase of the flight lasted for 9 minutes and covered a distance of 465 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 1 mile east of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. The descent took place from an altitude of 10,323 meters above sea level to 416 meters above sea level, a decrease of 9,907.2 meters. This descent took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 107 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 10 at TISX Henry E Rohlsen Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 84.0 degrees at an altitude of 390.2 meters above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on runway 10, which has a length of 2,735 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed at 129 knots.
The touchdown point was 215 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 122 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -1.1 meters per second. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.5 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were again characterized by a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius.
The total landing distance was 1,542 meters, which is 56% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 688 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 55 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,766 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at TISX Henry E Rohlsen Airport, achieving a score of 92.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 84.0° at an altitude of 390.2 meters above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The final approach was executed with a good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly below the target threshold speed of 129 knots, registering at 122 knots. This was still considered a good touchdown speed, as it was within a safe range for the aircraft to maintain control and stability during the landing process. However, the touchdown rate of -1.1 meters per second was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more smoothly.
The touchdown point was located 215 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.5 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight miscalculation in the aircraft's approach path.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C. The total landing distance of 1,542 meters was 56% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its direction and speed during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to touch down safely on the runway. However, there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters, which may be addressed in future training exercises to improve the crew's performance.
