Hold the glidepath
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: glideslope 4.3° against the runway's 3° and centreline 1.2° off, against a 1° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,817 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 435 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Hawker H25B taxied to runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport and commenced its departure roll. The aircraft lifted off after a take-off run of 822 m, representing 44 % of the available runway, at a liftoff speed of 136 kt. Ambient conditions were 16 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a cross-wind component of 1 kt and a head-wind component of 2 kt.
Climb began overhead the departure aerodrome, with the airplane accelerating from 990 ft asl to 4,234 ft asl, an altitude gain of 3,244 ft achieved in 3 minutes while covering 13 nm.
Level cruise was established over Kirkhill, Highland, Scotland. The cruise segment lasted 3 minutes and spanned 12 nm at a constant altitude.
During the final approach to runway 05 at EGPE Inverness Airport, the aircraft descended from 1,939 ft agl to 54 ft agl in 100 seconds, meeting the stabilisation gate criteria.
The approach continued to runway 05, where the aircraft prepared for landing under the same local weather of 16 °C, wind 2 kt from 269°, a cross-wind of 1 kt and a tail-wind component of 2 kt.
Touchdown occurred on runway 05, whose length is 1,817 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 112 kt. The aircraft touched down after traveling 435 m down the runway at a speed of 95 kt, with a vertical rate of minus 164 fpm. Runway-touchdown alignment was described as very good.
Rollout proceeded with perfect runway-rollout alignment. The total landing distance measured 924 m, equivalent to 51 % of the runway length.
In total, the flight covered 31 nm, taking 9 (units as reported) and consumed 114 kg of fuel.
The Hawker H25B made its final approach to runway 05 at EGPE Inverness Airport, descending from 1,939 ft agl to 54 ft agl in 100 seconds. The approach was assessed as unstable at the 1,000 ft gate, being off the glideslope and off the centreline.
At the threshold the aircraft presented a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 112 kt.
Touchdown occurred 435 m down the runway at a speed of 95 kt, with a good vertical rate of minus 164 fpm and a very good runway-touchdown alignment. The total landing distance was 924 m, representing 51 % of the 1,817 m runway.
Rollout alignment was perfect throughout the remaining distance.
To convert the unstable approach to a stabilized one, maintain the glideslope and centreline within limits by the 1,000 ft gate; this will preserve the high overall score and further improve consistency.
