MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 4,854 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 4,854 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,040 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna C172, then departed from runway 27 at KLDJ Linden Airport. The takeoff distance was 927 feet, which is 30% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 60 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 58°F and a wind speed of 5 knots from 230°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. The aircraft took off and began its enroute climb, which started overhead Linden, New Jersey. The climb from 316 feet above sea level to 2,077 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,762 feet, took 2 minutes and covered 2 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Avenel, New Jersey, and lasted 5 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. However, the aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 2,109 feet above sea level to 3,917 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,808 feet, in 3 minutes and covering 2 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then resumed overhead Iselin, New Jersey, and lasted 58 minutes, covering 73 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, which started 2 miles north of Weatherly, Pennsylvania. The descent from 3,858 feet above sea level to 2,882 feet above sea level, a decrease of 976 feet, took 3 minutes and covered 3 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 28 at KHZL Hazleton Municipal Airport was made from the east, heading 274.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,283 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 28 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 1,035 feet, which is 51% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 57 knots, and the touchdown rate was -197 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 16 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 52°F.
The total landing distance was 2,478 feet, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. Taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 85 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 75 minutes. The aircraft used 71 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna C172 aircraft successfully landed at KHZL Hazleton Municipal Airport, achieving a high score of 97.8%. The final approach to runway 28 was conducted from the east, with the aircraft heading 274.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,283 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The threshold speed of 62 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the landing phase. The touchdown distance of 1,035 feet was also satisfactory, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent.
The touchdown speed of 57 knots was slightly lower than the threshold speed, but still within the acceptable range. This suggests that the pilot had successfully slowed the aircraft down during the landing phase, which is a critical aspect of safe landing procedures. The touchdown rate of -197 feet per minute (fpm) was also good, indicating that the aircraft was descending at a controlled rate.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft touching down 16 feet off the centreline. This may be due to a slight misalignment of the aircraft during the final approach or a slight drift during the landing phase. Despite this, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had successfully controlled the aircraft's direction during the rollout phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 52°F, which is relatively cool. This may have affected the aircraft's performance during the landing phase, but the pilot's skills and experience were sufficient to overcome any challenges posed by the weather conditions. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot's skills and experience were demonstrated through the high score achieved.
