MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,981 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,981 m of the 3,365 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 671 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 7 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 28L at KFCM Flying Cloud Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,083 meters, which accounted for 71% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 141 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south west of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The climb began at an altitude of 1,888 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 34,328 feet, an increase of 32,440 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 119 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 3 miles north east of Nashua, Iowa, and lasted for 32 minutes, covering a distance of 284 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb 2 miles south west of Saint Jacob, Illinois, climbing from 35,400 feet to 37,230 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 3 miles south of Fischer's RLA Restricted Landing Area in New Memphis, Illinois, and lasted for 67 minutes, covering a distance of 585 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it started its enroute descent 17 miles west of Ezell Airport Keaton Beach, Florida, descending from 37,925 feet to 4,959 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 133 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 3 miles south east of Oldsmar, Florida, and lasted for just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent overhead Gandy, Florida, descending from 4,557 feet to 1,247 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 01L at KTPA Tampa International Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 3.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,227 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, with a touchdown point 250 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 133 knots, which was good, while the touchdown rate was fair at -231 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 35 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,895 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxiing to the parking area took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 1,154 nautical miles, taking a total of 164 minutes, and the aircraft used 571 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at KTPA Tampa International Airport on runway 01L, achieving a score of 89.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 3.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,227 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was conducted with a slight crosswind of 4 kt and a headwind of 7 kt, which was relatively favorable given the local weather conditions.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 250 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly beyond the ideal position. However, the touchdown speed of 133 kt was within the acceptable range, indicating a good control of the aircraft's descent. The touchdown rate of -231 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more smoothly.
The threshold height at 70 ft agl was well above the target, which may have contributed to the slightly above-target threshold speed of 141 kt. Despite this, the aircraft maintained a very good runway rollout alignment, indicating that the pilots were able to control the aircraft's direction and speed effectively during the landing roll.
The total landing distance of 1,895 meters was 56% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilots demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft during the approach and landing phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown position and touchdown rate to achieve a higher score.
