Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
Side view — the last 4,227 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 4,227 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,286 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departure from Macapá - Alberto Alcolumbre International Airport (SBMQ) commenced with a roll on runway 26. The aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 33 kt, achieving lift-off in a distance of 2,887 ft, which represented 42% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 81 °F, with a wind speed of 8 kt at 20°, resulting in a crosswind of 5 kt and a tailwind of 7 kt.
As the aircraft transitioned to the enroute phase, it began climbing from an initial altitude of 155 ft above sea level to 4,123 ft, an increase of 3,968 ft, in just 4 minutes. This climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which lasted 7 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nm. The aircraft then commenced its descent, reducing its altitude from 4,490 ft to 178 ft in 6 minutes, while covering a distance of 7 nm. The descent phase was completed in preparation for landing at Hangar Comandante Salomão Alcolumbre Airport (SJKI), where the aircraft touched down on runway 29.
The landing phase was executed with a touchdown distance of 1,142 ft, which represented 36% of the available runway length. The touchdown speed of 42 kt was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -112 fpm was smooth. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 30 ft. Following touchdown, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 23 nm, and the aircraft consumed 4 lbs of fuel during the 19-minute flight.
The approach to runway 29 at SJKI Hangar Comandante Salomão Alcolumbre Airport was characterized by a threshold height of 87 ft above ground level, significantly above the target. This necessitated a slightly higher approach speed, which was achieved at 58 kt, marginally above the target. The aircraft maintained a stable flight path, with a smooth touchdown rate of -112 fpm, indicating a well-executed flare.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 42 kt, within the acceptable range, and the touchdown distance of 1,142 ft was satisfactory. However, the runway touchdown position was 30 ft off-centreline, indicating a slight deviation from the desired alignment. The total landing distance of 1,527 ft, accounting for 36% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 80 °F and a gentle wind of 6 kt at 12 °, contributed to a relatively straightforward landing.
The rollout phase was marked by a slight misalignment of 46 ft from the centreline, indicating a need for improvement in maintaining a stable path during the deceleration phase. Despite this, the overall performance of Aircraft Fox2 earned a score of 75.2%, reflecting a good but not exceptional landing.
