Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 152 m above the runway. The 305 m gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,374 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 253 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 2.50 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LTFM İstanbul Airport. This process took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 18, and the takeoff distance was 1,724 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 161 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots at 0 degrees. There was no crosswind or headwind to affect the flight. The enroute climb started 1 mile south of LTFM İstanbul Airport Arnavutköy, and the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 339 meters above sea level to 9,733 meters above sea level, an increase of 9,394.3 meters, in 15 minutes and covering a distance of 70 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 7 miles east of Malkara, and it lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 565 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 42 miles east of Siracusa, and the aircraft descended from 9,762 meters above sea level to 463 meters above sea level, a decrease of 9,298.6 meters, in 23 minutes and covering a distance of 95 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 23 at LMML Malta International Airport took place from the north-east, with a heading of 234.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 381.8 meters above ground level. The landing on runway 23 was successful, with a runway length of 2,374 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 133 knots. The touchdown distance was 254 meters, and the touchdown speed was 132 knots, both of which were good.
However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -2.6 meters per second, and the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 17.7 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots at 0 degrees, with no crosswind or headwind. The total landing distance was 1,408 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 18.3 meters from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area from the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 740 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 75 minutes. The aircraft used 5,018 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at LMML Malta International Airport, achieving an overall score of 88.1%. The final approach to runway 23 was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 234.0° at an altitude of 381.8 meters above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 133 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed. The touchdown distance of 254 meters was also within the expected range. However, the touchdown speed of 132 knots was slightly lower than the threshold speed, indicating a slight deceleration during the final approach.
One notable aspect of the landing was the high touchdown rate of -2.6 meters per second, which is considered very hard. This may indicate that the aircraft was descending at a steep angle during the final approach, which could be a concern for passenger safety.
The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 17.7 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a combination of factors such as wind, pilot error, or aircraft performance. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and no wind, which should have made the landing easier.
The total landing distance of 1,408 meters was 59% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 18.3 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the same factors that caused the initial touchdown position to be off-center.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there are some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown rate and runway alignment. The pilots may need to review their approach and landing procedures to ensure that they are achieving the desired touchdown speed and position.
